Listener comments!

  12:04pm SmokinJ:

The crowd is ready to rock!
  12:05pm Parq:

And we wanna get loaded!
  12:05pm annie:

hey j, i acquired myself a new yorker this weekend.. stashed and safe for further use..
  12:06pm if ya dig...:

:)
  12:06pm SmokinJ:

Got a jump start on ya' Parq ;)
  12:11pm Parq:

Annie, assuming you mean the mag, do you have the issue with the piece about Neil Gaiman? The daughter worships the ground NG hovers above, so I'm looking forward to reading it.
  12:14pm 67tele:

OMG I wonder if Jeff Tweedy has heard this
  12:15pm Kat:

Wow, what a cover of IATTBYH! I might prefer this to the original.
  12:19pm Joe B:

Hi all! Thanks for tunin' in.

The Dark Brothers playing live around 1 - 1:30 pm
  12:25pm Steve / SI:

Great show again Joe...great seeing u @ Doughboys show. They were as great as you said. Any way to hear some Hank IV "smile away" cant seem to find it anywhere. Thanks
  12:37pm Joe B:

Steve! Rock on! Can't play Hank IV, I am up on 4th floor today - library on 2nd floor, sorry!
  12:38pm annie:

parq: :( sorry to say, 'tis an erroneous interpretation on your part. i was using a terminology alluding to a style of .. well you know.. roll em if you got em, kindof talk.. hehe.. but neil gaiman!! i'll have to check the article out, now. i was turned on to his writing by the son of the episcopal minister at the church up here, a very progressive thinking kid.. one who will go far..
  12:40pm ?:

Great to hear new neckreakers
  12:42pm murpheh:

nice on the Neil,

was on a road trip from Canada to the adirondaks, swung into the evil walmart for overdue provisions, bought the Neil disc and the bastard skipped!!! last cd I ever bought. my daughter still sings "cough up the bucks" only track that played!
  12:45pm Carmichael:

I have finally transcended the realm of tangible music media. As an old vinyl and 8-track horder, it was like kicking heroin.
  12:47pm SmokinJ:

What? Are you nuts?
  12:48pm Steve / SI:

Hey Joe...no worries. Can't wait to jump on the Thermals tix when they come up. Mr.Kelly played "Tues Aft Noon" DBoyz Act your Rage cd..what a great version and a greater cd
  12:49pm Joe B:

Not me Carm. Replacing the pile of unlabeled cassettes in front of my stereo is a folder full of unlabeled mp3s on my computer.
  12:53pm Steve/SI:

this rift on the song is straight out of "give it back" by the dickies

a great song just the same
  12:59pm BushDespiser:

I think that was George Sr. Still a FCCing ass.
  1:05pm Carmichael:

All MP3s for me from now on. I still kept my old vinyl, so I can pet and kiss them when I'm lonely. But my everyday playin' music is all digital.
  1:15pm listener jeff:

i pay more attention to music when I play it on vinyl for some reason. maybe because they end so fast and you have to put another one on. i love my vinyl!
  1:18pm SmokinJ:

I'm still playing 15IPS reel tapes with some of my fave live bands! Yes, I still totally love analog audio :)
  1:20pm vince:

thanks, joe!
  1:21pm Carmichael:

Wow, my Teac deck is one thing I do miss. You could do some wonderful things with the play/record heads.

Just got my Technics turntable back up and calibrated. That's been doing full service, after resting for about 15 years.
  1:24pm Listener Jumpy:

Wow, "You Can't Trust Me" was great. Fortunately, CAN trust me.
  1:24pm SmokinJ:

Good plan! The analog stuff will rock long after you've 'lost' your mp3 collection:)
  1:27pm annie:

and i still clutch to my vinyl..
  1:39pm SmokinJ:

I'll bet you do.. ;)
  1:43pm listener jeff:

i miss all the stuff you got with vinyl - i may still own 1 square inch of land in Arkansas from a black oak arkansas album and how about the stuff from alice's schools out album!
  1:44pm Bad Ronald:

I still have the paper panties Jeff!
  1:46pm Cecile:

I got the new FOTC album from Subpop, and they really played up the album format. Loads of extra pics, gatefold sleeve with photos, stickers, buttons, etc.

My favorites are all the hand-drawn Flying Nun covers. A huge influence on me.
  1:47pm Cecile:

I also loved that Pray for Me song. Very, very funny.
  1:47pm listener jeff:

that's what i'm taking about Bad Ronald!
  1:47pm Joe B:

I am loving all the new releases available on LP the last few years. Of course, Norton, Bomp/Alive etc. never stopped pressing 'em up!
  1:48pm annie:

one of the last vestiges of the old-school entertainment. and then i think of the victrola i used to own.. i prefer my german-made turntable..... how the hell am i gonna move with 20 boxes of vinyl?? aarrgghhh!!
  1:48pm SmokinJ:

Just listened to my 'original' LP of BOA "Raunch & Roll". That F****r rocks!
  1:52pm Cecile:

this sounds like a mix of later pink floyd and television. This is great.
  1:58pm Minimoog56:

nuthin better durin a two hour layover at Ohare watchin the snow fall on the runway, the jets takin off & listening to three chord monte and dark brothers... reading a blog about lester bangs and riffing -next stop is the Bay Area for 2 weeks - and away we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  1:58pm Carmichael:

I still have the rolling paper in my Cheech & Chong "Big Bambu" album.
  2:02pm Cecile:

mini, that's awesome. I kind of hate O'Hare so anything that makes the layover bearable is aces with me.

When I gave away my copy of Big Black's Lungs to my friend, it still had the "other titles" from the, erm, men's romance book series in it.
  2:02pm SmokinJ:

It's probably time to put that sucker (or a modern counterpart) into use!
  2:06pm dc pat:

my wife HAD an unopened version of Headache by Big Black. Black plastic cover, and gruesome pic inside...then some muhfuh opened it at a party--tore it open the wrong way.

...how cool is my wife?
  2:06pm Bad Ronald:

I think it would be hard to top the extras that come with the Rammstein Box Set!
  2:07pm Dean Rispler:

Joe - I just got in and saw you played The Bamboo Kids. Thanks so much. Vince told me you gave me a shoutout, too. Awesome! You rule!
  2:16pm dc pat:

The Ex use to pack their LPs, 45s with extras. Not the cds though.
  2:17pm Carmichael:

SmokinJ, there was a time when I would see a massive doobie made from that paper being passed around at arena concerts.

Aahhh, the good old days.
  2:19pm dc pat:

man it would have taken about 2 pounds of weed to fill that thing up.
  2:20pm SmokinJ:

That would'a been me doin' the passin' :)
  2:31pm Frank:

Is this Plimsouls from the new Bomp live release?
  2:32pm Cecile:

sounds like it Frank.
  2:33pm Frank:

Sounds real raw. I like it!
  2:36pm Cecile:

like the first album, but without all the energy drained out of it (I love that record, but you have to crank it to one million to get the feel right)
  2:47pm stephanie:

thanks Joe you are the best - say HELLO to your lovely bride!
  2:47pm 67tele:

ono it's yoko :)
  2:52pm Cecile:

I have Shiba Inu Puppy cam and this going at the same time.
  2:55pm Cecile:

it's all peep, peep, peep, peep.
  2:55pm Cheri Pi:

I was watching those puppehs sleep last night! I should log in right now...
  2:57pm annie:

not hearing it cecile, but watching now.. i see sleeping pups..
  2:58pm Cheri P i:

Look at those puppehs using each other for pillows...**sigh**
  2:59pm annie:

cecile, have you been able to discern personalities yet in them?
  3:00pm Cecile:

I know. I want to poke them so they can wake up and play. LOL!
  3:00pm Cecile:

The big cream-colored boys seem to hog mom, but not yet.
  3:06pm Arlene Patulski:

Great show Joe!
  7:39pm Slim Jim:

Let me tell ya 'bout my lovelight...
  7:40pm N. Hock:

So, how 'bout them Dark Brothers?
