that Neu base line is also the base line from the introduction to the Joy Division song 'No Love Lost' (1978?) I can't say off hand who came up with it first. Also thanks for the Wedding Present. I love that song -- love Niagra too. Saw them once, twice maybe, at the old 9:30 club (W.DC). I always tell people they were the loudest band I ever saw play, with the exception of a certain Husker Du/ Negative Approach show.

I didn't get a precise measurement but Merzbow at the DC Arts Center (circa 1989) would have to be a contender.

Dino Jr. was so loud it was impossible to tell the songs apart or know what they were playing. My GF of the time told me this was part of their "genius."
I credit both bands with laying the foundation for my incipient tinnitus.

Ya know, I kinda thought their M.O. was a little "copy-catted" from Ellard and Co.!

Loudest show? North Mississippi All Stars in a venue for about 150 people but they had their sound at stadium level..+ the band members were flirting with my girlfriend.
