Listener comments!

  12:05pm
Ralph:

It tastes like burning.
  12:05pm
The hairless Wookie:

Trippy sci-fi space music....just the way I like it.
  12:05pm
Georgie Peorgie:

someone had to be first
  12:09pm
Carmichael:

Hiya, Scott. I'm here to listen.
  12:10pm
Devin:

Tuned in.
  12:10pm
BSI:

aah...
I needed that like I need another whore in my head.
and I mean that in the nicest possible way.
what?
  12:15pm
Carmichael:

Ya, baby. The Purps.
  12:15pm
Ralph:

Okay, we get it Zamfir
  12:16pm
BSI:

*purp*
....here comes another one...
  12:17pm
M Hedberg:

Every time someone says "another hole in my head", I think why would they want more than one of Courtney Love's band in their head at once?
  12:22pm
Comic Book Guy:

But, Aquaman, you cannot marry a woman without gills. You're from two different worlds... Oh, I've wasted my life.
  12:25pm
J-Mar:

So this is different from A Lover and a Friend (of "Reach Out in the Darnkess" fame)?
  12:27pm
Scott:

Hi J-Mar -- yep, totally different. I gots no idea who those people were. Tony C might know.
  12:29pm
hardhotrocker@aol.com:

Radar Love by Golden Earring please
  12:29pm
J-Mar:

Hey, they're both groovy! Excellent show today.
  12:29pm
Carmichael:

J-Mar, that was "Friend and Lover" (Jim Post and Cathy Conn). I don't know who the heck Lovers and Friends are.
  12:31pm
Professor Dum Dum:

Aaaaaah! My pipes! Fix my pipes!
  12:32pm
J-Mar:

Ahhh, thanks for clarifying, Carmichael. I think it's so groovy now that people are finally getting together.
  12:37pm
Dylan:

JG! My favorite!
  12:39pm
Carmichael:

Could it be Friends,l Lovers and Family? They're a trance band that does re-make old songs.
  12:40pm
Negator:

I've characterized Jackie Gleason Orchestra's cannon as "music to drink profusely and shoot yourself in the head to". Even the Christmas record!
  12:43pm
Cecile:

PURPLE
  12:44pm
Cecile:

Negator, that is the greatest and most apt misspelling of "canon" ever
  12:46pm
darling wife:

First page done. Behind schedule, but it's a milestone anyway. 64 misspelled arctics. Breaking for lunch now. I fear it's going to be a late night.
  12:46pm
Carmichael:

Hey Cecile, how are you feeling?
  12:48pm
Cecile:

Better, Carm, stilll a little wobbly, but getting stronger every day. Pain is subsiding slowly and steadily. So, all good.
  12:50pm
Carmichael:

Glad to hear it. And good, government-grade drugs too. All IS good.
  12:52pm
Cecile:

yes!
and free lavash at the post office. What a life this is.
  1:02pm
Carmichael:

Last night, this old cowboy came into the guitar store I frequent. He was about 80, with a ratty cowboy hat and missing a finger on his left hand. I wondered how he was going to play guitar at all. He was looking for the Thursday Night Jam, but had the wrong day. So he sat down with his battered Martin and proceeded to play and sing a beautiful old Hank Locklin song. I was floored.

That Red Sovine song you played earlier spurred me to recall this. There aren't too many of these guys left in the world.
  1:04pm
Garth:

One of my favorite Residents tracks.
  1:04pm
Simone:

Lavash at the post office ... Samosas at the Chevron station...Scott Williams in my head .. I love it!
  1:13pm
annie:

this is what i'd love: a dvd of latcho drom....sorry to be off-topic. just watching some scenes from it.. i know i am veering from food..
  1:22pm
Carmichael:

Samosas ... and there's no Indian restaurants for a million miles around here. Damn you.
  1:23pm
annie:

so say i..... :(
  1:31pm
emmmma:

nonsequitir alert: i just heard the other day for the first time and i thought it pretty spectacular:

"Don't pet a burning dog"
  1:32pm
J-Mar:

Latcho Drom -- yes! I saw it something like 15 years ago and have longed to see it again.
  1:32pm
annie:

wow.. intense.
  1:33pm
annie:

i've never seen it and hear the soundtrack alot here and there. a few things on youtube... would love to have the dvd..i'll trade! ....
  1:41pm
sahak:

woohooo tony and hatch!!!!! i miss them toooo
  1:46pm
J-Mar:

I can't even tell if Latcho Drom is in print on DVD -- at least not in the U.S. It appears you can get it in other countries, but it won't play on our DVD players because of the region coding. I bet, though, that it came out on VHS when the movie was released. In any case, it really is a wonderful movie -- totally wordless, but brilliantly structured as it follows the migration of Roma people from India westward, and the evolution of their music along the way.
  1:49pm
annie:

snippets on youtube are beautific and breath-takingly moving. i know it's hard to find.. just saw the train station scene.. ... the rights to it have been closely protected, i like that actually. something not pirated or stolen..
  1:50pm
emmma:

hehe so cool scott: i haven't heard this dymaxion in years! thanks for making me run shrieking through the house
  1:51pm
Glenn L:

Luv that Dymaxion & Fly Ashtray.
  1:52pm
Ike:

Heartily seconded. But I missed the beginning of the show -- what's this about lavash?
  1:54pm
annie:

cecile is rubbing it in about her gift of free lavash
  1:55pm
Marshall Stacks:

"Coqboy"? Probably not a nickname Mr. Copas would welcome.
  1:56pm
molerat:

FWIW, I'm listening on the interweb, but I'm getting a tinny echo.
  1:57pm
annie:

rat, i thought that was part of the show..
  1:57pm
Marshall Stacks:

That's the penguin transistor radio.
  1:58pm
molerat:

oops.
  2:03pm
BSI:

whew!
Just got back from the big Druid Ocelots' Ear Candling Ritual and Bake Sale... what did I miss?
  2:10pm
John Today:

Not even resembling the first remark on this page. Whoop Whoop!
  2:14pm
Jason T:

Latcho Drom was available on VHS. It was at Kim's Video when I worked at the Christopher St store some 15 years ago.

Torrents don't have region encoding - just sayin'.
  2:16pm
annie:

i waited this long.... i can wait longer.. thanks for the info. tried torrents once, just wasn't my bag, maybe they're diff now
  2:21pm
BSI:

Great goat-headed mother of cornbread, scott... don't take that loop away from me! NEVAH!
  2:21pm
Ike:

Torrents usually aren't much good for less well-known or less popular things. There need to be at least a few people seeding an item, or it's an endless drag.
  2:22pm
annie:

yeah, ike; it's one thing i've heard...
  2:22pm
Marshall Stacks:

There are three VHS copies of Latcho Drom available on a well-known auction site I won't name. Not cheap, though.
  2:23pm
Marshall Stacks:

I think I dropped an umlaut or two....
  2:23pm
i bet:

well, i'll sit tight.. :)
  2:26pm
BSI:

*gasp*
....my precious loop.......
*koff koff*......
  2:26pm
Maria:

Thanks for such a great set!!! Made my afternoon.
  2:29pm
annie:

soon the popcorn gods will be rearing their buttery heads. off to movie-ness for me.. shall stay til the end, though. it's been wonderful..
  2:33pm
Bad Ronald:

Hey Snoid is a Robert Crumb character!
  2:35pm
BSI:

Mr. Natural is my co-pilot.
  2:36pm
Bad Ronald:

Eggs Ackley!
  2:37pm
Cecile:

Harvey Pekar!

great show
  2:39pm
Jason T:

I like this Big Blood disc. Was lucky enough to see the release show.
  2:40pm
SCott:

thanks Maria, Cecile & BSI! Hey BSI, what was the precious loop? Jason T, I envy the piss outta you bro.
  2:44pm
BSI:

Scott: the precious loop must've been that Planetarium track; a nicely abrasive sonic roll in there, it could've gone on for hours (as farazeim concerned)...
  2:54pm
Cecile:

primo dronage today. awersome.
  3:00pm
GP:

Back from a meeting with lawyers.....zzzzzzzz
