Mike, good to see you. Hello from Philly.
  3:44pm Marshall Stacks:

This is how they should have done it at the Inauguration.
Rev. Lowery rockin' the mic, Steinski on the wheels of steel.
  3:44pm annie:

marshall i soo agree...
  3:45pm 1mckers:

brrrrrrrrumppppppppp
  3:46pm Achille's Last Stand:

  3:55pm Cecile:

the gender change just makes it weirder.
  3:56pm eenie:

and she sounds kind of gleeful about the whole execution thing.
  3:58pm C:

and it sounded like she was singing it in a rollerskating rink or carnival or something
  3:59pm Kramer:

Sounds like the weasel that wants to eat foghorn leghorn
  3:59pm Cecile:

She was probably singing it in jail herself.
To one of her multiple personalities.
  4:00pm Marshall Stacks:

And thanks for the bit of Central Coast of California on this Central Coast of California afternoon!
  4:04pm galub:

Mike, your show just keeps getting better. This Clean track is one of my faves.
  4:16pm brock:

There can never be too much Dunedin
  4:18pm Kramer:

Alas I missed the Bomb track. Can I vote for Vagrant Vampires for the next time the Hits of Acid disk gets a spin?
  4:25pm Parq:

I haven't heard this touch-tone Devo in decades.
  4:25pm Kramer:

Ornette and Coltrane look out!!!
  4:25pm Pope Benedict XVI:

Ecce jocko homo.
  4:26pm JCityJensen:

This is great - Sounds like Daedelus
  4:27pm north guinea hills:

i do believe the rupture's bassline is from skream, one of the skreamism 12" i have....
  4:29pm north guinea hills:

...but rupture's and andy's twist on it makes a wee little more punkrock(dare i say), then the original dubstep template....
  4:34pm BSI:

dammit, this Snooks Eaglin version of St.James Infirmary Blues is even groovier than Cab Calloway's classic version...... great stuff....
  4:47pm JCityJensen:

nice set - you got some Beastles?
  4:48pm William:

or Beachles for that matter?
  4:48pm 1mckers:

>Ecce jocko homo

hoo-ya!
  5:04pm Ike:

There are lots of K-Rocks but none are as bad as the New York one, as I understand it. The one in L.A. is KROQ, I think, right? I don't know if it still exists.

There are rumors that CBS is blowing up NY K-Rock and turning it top-40 soon.
  5:06pm JCityJensen:

whats the goal for the marathon?
  5:09pm LewisI:

I will be in for my House pledge esp given the need. Looking forward to the carnival
  5:18pm 1mckers:

you can hear that "da bone" crap out here WBON from Westhampton. Those Westhampton guys could snap whathizname with their pooches' necks
  5:21pm Jon Solomon:

KROQ still exists. According to their web site, they are "world famous."

http://www.kroq.com/
  5:23pm Art Smass:

JSol: they are world famous in LA.
  5:25pm Parq:

Ike, how could one K-Rock be better or worse than another? Don't they all use the same pre-recorded mike breaks and nationally distributed playlists?
  5:25pm Ike:

Apparently they were once actually deserving of being "world famous", y'know, like WOXY or the old WHFS, but now? I doubt it. It's probably all Incubus and Nickelback and Disturbed and old STP over and over.
  5:25pm Kramer:

Samhain? Since you are going all melodic and campfire tunes on us, how about 'Dead Spot" by Dead Spot.
  5:27pm annie..:

ok, ok... really have to relax now... and this just isn't doing it, although it's all great in the right context.. i can dig it.. but i must leave now... i lasted this long.. but it IS a good day for bananafish
  5:31pm Ike:

Parq, I could be wrong, but apparently the sell-out corporate radio program directors vary, and they're particularly musically conservative and panicky in NY. Some radio professionals actually argue that commercial rock radio doesn't work in NY b/c NY "just isn't a rock town," but if the stations didn't suck so bad, maybe somebody would listen. Rock radio shouldn't be insanely repetitive.

I say put Mike in control of K-Rock. Its ratings can't really get any lower anyway. Why the hell not?
  5:33pm Tristram in Brooklyn:

Ok I'm listening to Kenny G's show from 2/18/2009, and think I have a vague idea what the whole "Corn Weenie" thing is.... But I'm still not too sure...
  5:37pm Tristram in Brooklyn:

.....sorry Mike,,,!
  5:37pm Parq:

[I say put Mike in control of K-Rock.] I'm totally with you on that. Ever notice how all these commercial stations and major non-profit stations whine that they would love to achieve what FMU does in terms of audience support, but then insist in the very next breath that they could never do any of the things that FMU does to achieve those results in the first place?

Let 'em keep digging their graves, I say. I gave up commercial radio decades ago, and chucked NPR last year.
  5:38pm Marshall Stacks:

Wow, what a segue!

Amphetamine > The First Cut is the Deepest
RftT > Cat Stevens

A thing of genius.
  5:45pm Art Smass:

Is that her pet chimp in the background?
  5:46pm Marshall Stacks:

Verily, she is harshing my mellow.
  5:50pm Tristram in Brooklyn:

....so it was Ken?
  5:57pm Leon Trotsky:

This sounds like the Cheer Squad from my alma mater, Communist Martyrs High School.
