	9:52am fishmonkeystew: Goooooood morning Trouble and all! Havin' a helluva week here in CT. Saw David Byrne play on Tuesday night (phenomenal!) and found out that my yellow Lab, Monk, needs ACL surgery yesterday. Oh the ups and downs.....

	9:58am bzul: Did anyone here go to Battery Terminal bldg. in NY to "play" the building with Byrne's custom riggin'? I wanted to during a double-quick city tag over the summer, but didn't make that stop.
	9:59am sugarwolf: when I saw Serge Gainsbourg's grave, it wasn't until a month or so later I realised why there were all those Metro tickets on it. I did understand the head of cabbage, though.

	10:03am fishmonkeystew: Yeah, I couldn't believe the Byrne show. I saw him at the Calvin Theater in Northampton, MA. Got loads of pics, and got to hear a load of Talking Heads songs live. I never expected that. Take Me to The River, Once In a Lifetime, Heaven, Burning Down the House, amongst others. Waaaaaaay cool. And the theater only held about 900-1000 people. Nice small venue.

	10:09am Bad Ronald: There was a bit of a line on a Friday. Waited for about 5 - 10 mins. to sit down for 2 to play. It sounded nice. Kinda like a haunted factory. Lots of banging clicking and droning.

	10:40am Cecile: What are ya making? I'm a bit in the same boat. Found some little Xmas stockings that take 45 min to crochet, start to finish. They are saving my carcass.
	10:46am sugarwolf: Cecile, I have to make two pairs of socks, but with heavy worsted weight, so they only take a day or two. I have a vest I started for my grandma, but I hate the yarn so much... I am also making the cat a new fun fur cat bed, and I really don't need to finish on xmas, it's not like he knows. And I want to finish my Manos: Yarn of Fate sweater for New Years
	10:46am trouble: dj icepack is making drawings for everyone on his holiday list. we will zip them into brightly colored frames and away we go. How about spiced pecans, or matching cloth napkins that are super easy to whip up if you have a sewing machine? Books from a used bookstore is also a good "no time" solution
	10:48am Li'l bobby: Mornin Truble, Great show. i, too, have nothing against the chinese, but i try not to by stuff from that country, though that's pretty close being impossible. I'm carving heads for the select few this year.I love spiced pecans.

	11:03am Parq: This will be my third year of not buying any gifts at all in a big-box or other chain store. Local retailers only. Even after years of mall-ization, NY residents still have that option, thank providence.
	11:03am sugarwolf: part of xmas tradition is saying how little we spent on gifts knitting + subtitles = uh oh
	11:04am trish: Some kids I know took some plain plastic lightswitch covers from the hardware store and painted them up for xmas gifts. Good colours, good abstract- I still have them. I prefer the neutral grey/silver one w/ accent colours over the primary coloured one, but hey that's me.
	11:04am Cecile: that's why I watch crime shows or animal planet if there are no dogs on the TV. I can "watch TV through my head" better. Same here - sugarwolf!

	11:18am Doug: Sugarwolf - I saw Gainsbourg's grave a couple years ago, as well, and saw the tickets, and cabbage. It was bizarre, and someone was there protecting/tending to it. In Savannah, GA, saw lyricist/singer Johnny Mercer's grave, and his neice was there watering it - she was very nice and full of trivia and info ! His songwriting catalog is staggering.

	11:24am annie: and we used to create gift tags by cutting up old greeting cards and backing them with white card paper. punch a couple holes in and tie it with ribon or string..

	11:30am Parq: Annie, that's a cool idea. I like to use gift bags instead of paper - reusable (and easier - I am kind of a klutzy wrapper). I got a lot of old cards, and I can make gift bags with them. Thanks!

	11:41am Ike: Someone earlier said "i try not to by stuff from that country [China], though that's pretty close being impossible." It's very possible. I haven't bought anything made in China since late January, except for some food items, like ginger. Plus, I no longer buy Chinese garlic. Local farmer's market garlic is ten times stronger and tastier, making up for the much higher price.

	11:56am GP: Bad Ronald and anyone else...If you make that recipe..watch it carefully during about the last hour of cooking so it does not get too dried out. I took mine out of the oven just as the last bits of moisture disappeared. I also turned it more frequently...maybe about 5 or 6 times.

	10:46am sugarwolf: Cecile, I have to make two pairs of socks, but with heavy worsted weight, so they only take a day or two. I have a vest I started for my grandma, but I hate the yarn so much... 	10:46am trouble: dj icepack is making drawings for everyone on his holiday list. we will zip them into brightly colored frames and away we go. How about spiced pecans, or matching cloth napkins that are super easy to whip up if you have a sewing machine? Books from a used bookstore is also a good "no time" solution
	10:48am Li'l bobby: Mornin Truble, Great show. i, too, have nothing against the chinese, but i try not to by stuff from that country, though that's pretty close being impossible. I'm carving heads for the select few this year.I love spiced pecans.

	11:03am Parq: This will be my third year of not buying any gifts at all in a big-box or other chain store. Local retailers only. Even after years of mall-ization, NY residents still have that option, thank providence.

	11:04am trish: Some kids I know took some plain plastic lightswitch covers from the hardware store and painted them up for xmas gifts. Good colours, good abstract- I still have them. I prefer the neutral grey/silver one w/ accent colours over the primary coloured one, but hey that's me.

	11:18am Doug: Sugarwolf - I saw Gainsbourg's grave a couple years ago, as well, and saw the tickets, and cabbage. It was bizarre, and someone was there protecting/tending to it. In Savannah, GA, saw lyricist/singer Johnny Mercer's grave, and his neice was there watering it - she was very nice and full of trivia and info ! His songwriting catalog is staggering.

	11:41am Ike: Someone earlier said "i try not to by stuff from that country [China], though that's pretty close being impossible." It's very possible. I haven't bought anything made in China since late January, except for some food items, like ginger. Plus, I no longer buy Chinese garlic. Local farmer's market garlic is ten times stronger and tastier, making up for the much higher price.

	11:56am GP: Bad Ronald and anyone else...If you make that recipe..watch it carefully during about the last hour of cooking so it does not get too dried out. I took mine out of the oven just as the last bits of moisture disappeared. I also turned it more frequently...maybe about 5 or 6 times.
