Listener comments!

Cecile:

First comment!

oow ooh
  3:07pm
bzul:

oow ooh, child, things are gonna get easier..
  3:09pm
Cecile:

I think any Beatles song is improved by Singing Dogs. There I said that.
Except for maybe Hey Bulldog, which is about dogs. And I love.
  3:10pm
AnAnonymousParty:

What stipulations must be observed with regards to posting comments this week?
  3:11pm
Cecile:

And I cannot listen to Magical Mystery Tour without twitching as it was one of four eight tracks on the overnight shift at the Big Boy I worked at in 1979. The other three were Blind Faith, ELO's Eldorado, and New England's self titled release.

I cannot hear any MMT song without burning fat caressing my nostrils. We had to clean out the chicken fryer on our shift.
  3:12pm
Joe:

They all must be Beatles lyrics, or anagrams of Beatles lyrics.
  3:12pm
RSTVMO:

Last comment, whoo hoo!
  3:13pm
Graeme:

I worked in an HMV shop in the UK that would only play Tina Turner and Jive Bunny on rotation

Oatman:

Speaking of Stairway to Stardom,

zAzO:

oh this poor kid.
  3:13pm
Cecile:

now those of us who missed it, what happened this AM? Is that OK to ask?
  3:14pm
Bad Ronald:

Anyone know why Ken killed the comments?
  3:15pm
Graeme:

If this was slower it would be a great Smog track
  3:16pm
Parq:

Any Billy Joel song in any form is painful, but all was forgiven when I saw CaMp CoMbo lined up for the next slot.
  3:16pm
gumby:

Irwin thank you for making me feel like the greatest parent alive, because I do not do to my kids what Mr. & Mrs. Byas did.
  3:17pm
Cecile:

hey, can we get a little 3rd Man Theme here? I'm in the mood for zithers suddenly.
  3:19pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

I love Don Brockway's description of Judson Fountain as "the Ed Wood Jr. of Radio."
  3:21pm
Oatman:

Always love to hear the amazing Fay Lovsky.
  3:28pm
Oatman:

While I'm not a completist, I think it's imperative I buy every album by Scala in the near future.
  3:32pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

Maybe we can get whoever designed the logo for "A Day Without Gays" to do a logo for "A Day Without Billy Joel." The event clearly needs branding.
  3:35pm
Ike:

Cecile and BR, I am wondering that too. I was doing actual work for a few minutes and then suddenly POOF.
  3:36pm
Bad Ronald:

I think there were too many trolls.
  3:38pm
Cecile:

Ike, I came in to no comments, and usually Ken's show has one of the busiest ones of the week. I figured something happened like Bad Ron said.

Oatmanmanman:

Joan Marie Polo (JMP) is a project that began in 1994 with two 12 year olds from Phoenix, AZ. Those interested in examining formulas for pop music have a lot to learn from JMP as they take listeners on a journey of nostalgia, presenting skewed notions of pop music as it is understood by two pre-teens with a flair for 90's rock.
  3:54pm
Cecile:

helpful, I did google that before I asked Irwin.

thanks oatman.
  3:54pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

Gotta love that site, though, helpful.

No, I didn't either.
Normally, I'd be laughing. I'll have to remember that one.

Sure, Irwin. I'll nice you back if you play me some of the be-bop.

  4:04pm
Ike:

GP, one has to wonder: Did the math questions fail, or what?
  4:04pm
Parq:

I remember the Chambers Brothers' father in a radio commercial for razors, or shaving cream or something. AM radio in the 60s was kinda like that.
  4:06pm
GP:

I don't know but that was weird..but you could kind of see it coming..the comments kept getting more random and probably abusive + Ken was sick with the flu or something...not a good combo...we will have a mystery until next week.
  4:07pm
kay:

Have you seen my serene?
  4:08pm
Cecile:

Parq, I don't remember many 60s radio ads, but one I love is that Shadows of Knight potato chip ad on I think Pebbles Vol. 1.

Also, the "youth and experience" campaign ad...
  4:09pm
Irwin:

Carefill. Sumtimes Ken has a tuf.
  4:09pm

  4:10pm

  4:11pm
RSTVMO:

  4:11pm

WWJDK - what would Jesus drop kick?
  4:12pm

Now there is a voice for a newspaper:

I think Jandek is Harrys son....Harry's music is awesome, but OY that voice.
  4:39pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

Harry Partch? I was actually doing work, and stopped to listen because I thought it was Judson Fountain.
  4:47pm
GP:

Interesting? Got this by misspelling Partch on the Goog:
Harry Patch, at 110 is Britain's last surviving veteran of the First World War trenches.
  4:47pm
rebeccaschmoyer:

Thanks for playing the Partch! I'm playing this Sunday in the Partch ensemble this Sunday. You're awesome.
  4:49pm

Nice thought, Denise: "Harry Partch is the Judson Fountain of microtonal outsider composers". Or is Judson Fountain the "Harry Partch of drammer"?
  4:53pm
