Listener comments!

  9:08am
Hatch:

Am I the only one who didn't realize last Tuesday was Pi Approximation Day? I could have done a Pi Approximation Day special, if only I'd known.
  9:13am
Cubicle Carl:

It's never a wrong time for pi approximation. Go for it!
  9:15am
spaniel:

mmm... I love Pi! Isn't it spelled "pie"?
  9:15am
DeemerDave:

I know a guy named Pi. His real name is of Indian origin, about 25 letters long, and totally unpronounceable.
  9:17am
Bad Ronald:

I thought everyday was Pi Approximation Day!
  9:20am
spaniel:

I only wish there was some number I could multiply the radius squared of my pie by so I knew how much total pie I had. ):
  9:21am
Bad Ronald:

  9:26am
swami:

I'll have as much pi as my oven can bake in a day. Speaking of baking, this is the perfect music for it, thanks Hatch. I hope my coworkers don't hear the soothing gurgling sounds of my bing.
  9:38am
Steve:

What ever happened to your weekly fishing tips? I haven't had a bite since you stopped!
  9:41am
Hatch:

Became a Buddhist, gave up fishing. Too barbaric.

Actually, that's not true. At all.
  9:47am
jaypee:

YES, Basic Channel. Thank you.
  9:55am
joabj:

Ash Ra Tempel Never heard of them--I love me some early 70s Kraut space rock though...Perfect for a slow starting morning...
  9:55am
D. Blumin:

Set the Controls, Hatch! Great show! This Theta album is dope!
  10:02am
Ike:

Hey there Daniel. I was just listening to one of your archives.

Hatch, Pi Day -- March 14, specifically at 1:59 p.m. -- makes more sense to me than Pi Approximation Day. My calculator says 22/7 = 3.1428571, not 3.1415926. Oh, and great set!
  10:18am
John McCain:

leave me alone and just play the music. It is shows like this (that try to make me feel bad about myself and my campaign) that make me only want to watch FOX News! - although I do religiously listen to Tom Sharpling and The Best Show on WFMU.
  10:20am
D. Blumin:

Hi ya, Ike. Archives are perfect fer quiet morning calculations. But it's the live Hatch experience that makes John McCain check in.
  10:21am
Barack Obama:

Thank-you Hatch. Your show is great. And I appreciate you reporting on my campaign positively. It is all about timing. Speaking of which you should take a mic break after this song. Remember what we were taught - four songs/mic break/station business - four songs etc. etc. VOTE FOR CHANGE
  10:23am
Hatch:

Thanks Barack. Usually I do five songs, but you probably don't know that because I'm sure most of the time you're too busy to listen on a Tuesday morning.
  10:31am
Mike in California:

Is this Underworld playing underneath "Your DJ speaks'?
  10:34am
Hatch:

Nope, it's Marz.
  10:36am
Ron Paul:

Four songs or five songs?!? You're so out of touch! I'm gonna re-enter the race if you two keep this up.
  10:43am
Obama:

A four song set is what will get us out of Iraq in a timely fashion, end the gas crisis, and stall the housing market mess that this current administration was instrumental in us getting into. Vote for four song sets. Vote for change. And listen to Brian Turner's show.
  10:49am
PKNY:

This is a great set, thanks for turning me on to Ash Ra Tempel and Trees, especially!
  10:54am
President Nixon:

Wasn't Terry Melcher also tight with Dennis Wilson at the time? I always wondered if the Sharon Tate murders wasn't the Family going after Melcher because D. Wilson used Mansion's "Cease to Exist" on 20/20 (renaming it "Never Learn Not to Love" ) w/o giving mansion songwriting credit. That'd get me mad enough to off a house full of rich california hippies!
  10:55am
Hatch:

Melcher also rejected Manson's demo, which I assume is probably where he and Dennis Wilson first heard that song.
  11:03am
GUMBY:

I think Manson got his brain bent trying to find the last digit of pi. Or maybe someone ate his pie. Or maybe he ate too much acid in his pie, back in those happy hippie days.
  11:04am
miles:

some of those demos where recorded in Brian Wilson's studio.
  11:06am
miles:

btw, thanks for the singing fish (colin newman), brings back memories of the mid 80's, good ones, even.
  11:09am
table talk:

you can't spell hippie without hip pie.
  11:15am
Steve:

I can't even begin to thank you enough. I'm getting my tackle box out as I listen. CAST AWAY!
  11:17am
Nick:

Don't listen to steve he is crazy i know i work with him and i am sitting next to him now
  11:19am
GUMBY:

Since that fishing guy sounded like Bill Clinton a little bit. I pose the question, who is the best fisherperson of the presidential candidates?
  11:21am
Hatch:

Without a doubt, Cynthia McKinney.
  11:22am
north guinea hills:

wow, i actually have this rita weil lp..... beautiful!
  11:26am
Steve:

Something terrible just happened to Nick. I swear it was an accident Hatch - a horrible casting accident. It's really gonna hurt when he tries to get that out.
  11:27am
nick:

HELP...OUCH...Help
  11:29am
kYLE:

See what I have to deal with every day?
  11:32am
Steve:

What Kyle? So there's a little blood spurting out of Nick. So what, he'll get over it. And if he doesn't make it that will be one less pay check for me to write Friday.
  11:37am
Nick:

Just don't bury me in the back with the rest of the employees i'd rather be thrown back into the ocean like the other lucky fish
  11:41am
GUMBY:

Hatch I checked out Cynthia's website. It doesn't list any Bassmaster Tournament victories, but if poor people fish, it seems like she will too.
  11:43am
Nick:

I don't think we can go one day listening to the great WFMU without hearing bells of some sort
  11:45am
Steve:

You will Nick; that is if you finish bleeding out. You'll never hear another bell again.
  11:46am
GUMBY:

I'm going with Ralph Nader, because although he won't catch anything, he'll stay out there trying till he gets hooked in the eye because of some corporate conspiracy by the Shakespeare people.
  11:48am
Hatch:

He'd be all, "WHY WON'T THE CORPORATE MEDIA LET ME DEBATE A SWORDFISH????!!?!"
  11:50am
Nick:

I'm dying here of a rusty fish hook and all you can talk about is fishing!?!?!
  11:52am
Steve:

It's taking you way too long. I'm just gonna have to fillet your ass and get it over with.
  11:54am
GUMBY:

Some say pi is just a fish hook bent and turned sideways.
  11:56am
Nick:

Bunt sideways in my jugular
  11:56am
Nick:

Bent*
  11:58am
GUMBY:

Pi Hatch, have a good week.
  11:59am
Nick:

Bye Hatch see you on the hook side
  12:01pm
Steve:

I'm hooked on this show Hatch
