JJZ:

Happy "Don't Trust the Internet" Day.
  9:15am
Hatch:

Same to you, friend.
  9:22am
Dei xhrist:

actually that other web site looks kind of intriguing, what with the Night Nurse wounds all heels bit. A lovely listening space today.
  9:29am
Laura:

Loving the show today Hatch, it's a whole new direction for you! Love the street sounds.
  9:32am
JJZ:

The KJFC page seems more of a pain to get to the real page, because I can't seem to click on the picture to advance to the real home page.
  9:33am
Hatch:

Thanks Laura.
  9:34am
uncle al:

All go in SF

North Guineau Rehab:

The playlist is totally out of sequence today. Anybody else experiencing this?
  9:38am
north guinea hills:

i may not go back to wfmu again, this is awesome!
  9:39am
JJZ:

Yeah, it's an interesting change of pace.
  9:39am
Dickdong (UK):

Nosmo King, 19th Century Music Hall Artiste. See Wikipedia, H Vernon Watson. Like the new front page but are you trying to take me for a fool?
  9:39am
jonathan:

the pods have taken over.
  9:40am
momo:

wfmu is no longer firewalled at work! huzzah
  9:42am
JJZ:

The mp3 stream is on port 80, I think, so it's fairly firewall friendly.
  9:43am
another old man:

the new DJ's voice sounds vaguely NCP 'ZBC-ish.
  9:44am
lonnie:

we have a local sports talk radio station here in youngstown that sometimes has "technical difficulties" and will sound like this for hours at a time. i sit and listen to it for hours at a time (like an idiot), so this is nothing new for me. in fact, kfjc can be the sister-station
  9:45am
Hatch:

Was ist das NCP ZBC?
  9:49am
dei x:

my toilet runs, refrigerator hums, oil burner fires up, and cars go by - if I were at home with Sly Dunbar I would have a complete symphony of ambient joy. But I'm at work rocking out to KJFC, the home of the blown out subwoofer.
  9:50am
dei x:

(air organ riff)
  9:50am
another old man:

NCP ZBC: an organization founded by Gary Geiserman, Peter Choyce and Off the Cuff George
  9:54am
Hatch:

I'll bet Sly Dunbar appreciated blown-out subwoofers as much as anybody.
  9:58am
pat:

wow, very freakin confusing. I gotta hand it to you guys, good one... but I think I'll get the right feed now...
  9:59am
Listener Dave from NH:

I'll cop to it - when I tuned in and was hearing the musique concrete and other errata and it was claiming to be Hatch's show, I was confused. When the station ID said KJFC, I was scratching my head even more.
When I went to the home page, I had a moment of animal panic - where the hell is my WFMU? How the hell could they blindside me with this, like when that classical station turned to a hard rock format overnight?
Then I clicked the image. Bloops.
  10:01am
lang:

direct me to the right feed please
  10:01am
g:

anybody else having trouble getting the KFJC stream?

for a really good time, try KJFC.org

  10:05am

Kent: I get to the page, but the stream won't load on my machine--just wondering if it's only me, or if others are having problems with it . . .
  10:06am

I have firefox/linux and I'm not having any trouble -- try the .m3u feed

  10:12am

  10:13am
leo.:

  10:14am

  10:16am
St.Even:

Like Wal-Mart having a new NASCAR series toothbrush, I must say JOKE COMPLETED!
  10:17am

lonnie:

  10:19am
Cecile:

What the hell is up with today's homepage? April Fool's joke?
  10:21am
Cecile:

Yay! You played Paul Metzger! Good, good, guy.
  10:21am
Hatch:

Pita (one guy) is still around, he just uses his own name now, Peter Rehberg.
  10:22am
Hatch:

And he has a duo called KTL with one of the dudes from Sunn O))).
  10:23am
Cecile:

I saw Sunn O))) at the Walker a few years back.

Some of the best sleep I ever got. Funny, cause I like their records.
  10:24am
pat:

kjfc has a requirement that dj's play 35% material acquired in the last 8 weeks. I think that's pretty fascistic.
  10:24am
annie:

how long has pita been around? the voice is very familiar. since 1982 or so? and is all the stuff very dark like that? thanks..
  10:25am
jtm:

I have to say that KFJC sounds good for 730 in the morning.
  10:26am
Hatch:

No vocals on the Pita track, Annie.
  10:26am
Cecile:

Hey, where are you Hatch? I am confuzzled.

I just heard Evangelista, but it's not on your playlist.
  10:27am
Brendan:

Finally! Both our favorite radio stations available over the air! Well, okay, KFJC only on the interwebs for now, but what a perfect pairing y'all are.
  10:29am
annie:

ok, there was a vocal bit/narration thing.. about ten or so minutes ago....woman's voice...
  10:31am

Hatch: you have tomatoes out already??
  10:36am
Cecile:

Ahhhh, much better. No more "mayhem"
  10:37am
Hatch:

  10:38am
annie:

any feedback on that one tune with the woman talking/singing? about 15 or so minutes ago..
  10:38am
pat:

cats are good, man. We have one that eats all the rats *crunch, crunch*. you gotta choose: cats or rats.
  10:39am
Wes:

Sorry, FMU...your April Fools Day joke has backfired...I'm now a convert to KJFC....KJFC ROCKS!!!!! I'm now a full fledged member and die-hard fan.
  10:39am

  10:46am
Wes:

zoltan! King of the Gargoths! (....is no Hatch)
  10:46am
tallpaul:

KJFC sounds like Kentucky Jerk Fried Chicken or a lesser known football team (soccer to you). I'll be sticking with woof moo thanks. Liverpool, England is listening!
  10:47am
uncle al:

just asked, it was polly moller
  10:49am
dei x:

I don't recognize a single name on this playlist aside from Crowley, so I don't know if the actual/virtual playlists are the same. But Hatch is such a gentleman he wouldn't pull a simple prank like that. He's more a superglue-in-the-keyhole kinda guy.
  10:50am
annie:

it's like playing multiple cards in bingo!!!
  10:50am
dei x:

OK I recognize Jessica Rylan... I am in New England after all...
  11:01am
Jonathan Steinke:

The show is tight!
  11:02am
annie:

general question: who remembers whfs/maryland's last day on the air??
  11:05am
St.Even:

The real KFJC show that's on right now sounds like a show for pill heads. WFMU is so much more fun.
  11:08am
Hatch:

Show some respect for the pill heads, folks.
  11:09am
lonnie:

i prefer the old-timey "hop heads"
  11:10am
Wes:

They have played one good piece of music thus far, the rest has been the sounds Satan would make if he had horrible indigestion.
  11:12am
St.Even:

I like it I'm just sayin it sounds like some kinda specialty show. Not a really diverse mix..
  11:13am
Dickdong:

I listen to wfmu mainly to drown out the sound of the buses that wait outside my shop with their engines running. I have to say KFJC does a much better job. I'm going to stick to KFJC - if it's still here tomorrow ....
  11:15am
Wes:

Anyone can play two chords on a phased out guitar over and over...where else are you going to hear Motown Meltdown???
  11:18am
Hatch:

For sure, Motown Meltdown is definitely one of those precious "only on WFMU" records.
  11:22am
Paul Metzger:

Give me WFMU any day.
  11:23am
Cecile:

Hey, Paul!!!!!
  11:24am

  11:25am

  12:01pm
north guinea hills:

at least they pick a great station to switch w/.......
  1:01pm
Ike:

I love Zoltan! Zoltan doesn't play hippie music! HA!

Annie: Regarding your WHFS comment: I remember when HFS was good, back around 1991. They introduced me to P.J. Harvey. Ahhh, the days when a commercial station could actually be good! I'm sure their "last day" wasn't worth remembering -- probably full of Matchbox 20 and overplayed RHCP songs etc.
  3:33pm
KFJC DJ:

"fascistic"? That's a somewhat uninformed opinion.
As a DJ, I WANT to do at least 35% of my show from the "current" library. KFJC adds so much ridiculously cool stuff every week, any DJ with a clue is happy to use 8 weeks worth of it when putting together a show.

"...From: pat
kjfc has a requirement that dj's play 35% material acquired in the last 8 weeks. I think that's pretty fascistic..."
  5:01pm
Hatch:

Nobody tells us how much to play from the WFMU new bin, true. But I'd guess my shows are usually at least 70% material acquired by the station in the last 8 weeks. If Brian or Ken told us we had to meet a 35% quota, most of us wouldn't have to change our shows at all.
  7:35pm
more music please:

yeah wfmu djs talk too much
  9:55pm
KFJC DJ:

Yeah, I never worry about making a minimum of 35% new stuff when I do a show. I usually play 60-70% new stuff just by accident. KFJC wants to feature the latest things added to the library for a few weeks, and 8 weeks worth is like 250-400 releases. Plenty of variety. Hey Hatch, I dug your show this morning. First time listener on the west coast.
