  The Fireflies song, which I liked as a child, is a one hit wonder that also marks about where rock bottomed out in the late 50s in the avaricious Philly scene surrounding Dick Clark's nefarious enterprises. Some intuitive sense of a teenage boy's lacquered, beehive hair nightmare must have prompted the producer to add the shrill, nagging girl chorus to a weak song & typically suave lead vocal; they provide the shout-along phrase that got the record up to #21 in 1959.
