Listener comments!

  11:04pm
fan:

D is for Dumptruck.I hope.Thanks E!
  11:18pm
efd:

OK, D for Dumptruck will be included in the listening party. Thanks!
  11:25pm
jason:

Andy Kim - Fire, Baby I'm On Fire. Thanks
  11:28pm
efd:

Andy Kim - check!
  11:34pm
Mook:

This tune?
Tranzmitors - Teenage Tragedy (Deranged 7")
  11:34pm
Jason (a different Jason):

D is for Dumptruck but Q is for Quatro!!...B is for Fat Boys too.
  11:39pm
E.L.:

I'd second Suzie Quatro aaaaaand...Speed-o-Metors.
  11:41pm
Ike:

Something from the Grand Masters of Rap comp please! But only if you can be fairly sure it ain't got no cussing in it, 'cause I wouldn't want to getcha in trouble! Heh.
  11:42pm
efd:

E.L. - good call on the Speed-o-Metors, that's one that I actually got to listen to last night and it's pretty good.
Tranzmitors, Suzi Quatro, Fat Boys all noted - thanks, keep 'em coming!
  11:44pm
efd:

Ike, good point! I'm not sure if those are clean versions on there!
  11:59pm
Ike:

Yikes Mr. Funk... in that case maybe you should wait until after you've had a chance to screen 'em.

As for "Next Great American Band," the whole show itself might get voted off of Fox -- even with the writers' strike. Fox would get higher ratings with reruns of "Bones" or even "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" or, hell, with a test pattern probably. Too bad... sounds like an OK show.
  12:06am
E.L.:

From the Tranzmitors stack, I'd love to hear anything but Teenage Tragedy (It's the only one of the group I've already heard). I'm all about groups that end in "tors" tonight.
  12:12am
deetee:

hi evus-
i imagine that "slingbacks" are different than, "the slingbacks" that I have a single of...nonetheless, i am curious and it is in the mighty pile...
if you want to push the buttons and play it!
  12:23am
E.L.:

Oop!
I just looked back on the comments. I wasn't trying to slam Mook's pick, I just missed it. Teenage Tragedy is cool!
  12:29am
efd:

E.L., you're such a troublemaker! I'm going to play "Teenage Tragedy" tonight, and will spin those other Tranzmitors records in the weeks ahead I'm sure.
@deetee - that may indeed be the same Slingbacks, I was typing in a hurry. Both those records are produced by Mitch Easter, if that helps.
  12:33am
deetee:

then, no it is different... but that makes me all the more curious! thanks, evus!
  12:49am
slugluv1313:

oooooooo, Honey Bane (do you have her "Guilty" 45? still an all time fave), Suzi Quatro, Sylvester, and *even* "BORN TO BE ALIVE"!!!!!!! woo hoo!
  12:54am
E.L.:

Thanks! I feel like I'm at my first Cheap Trick concert.
  12:58am
dave:

i'm TOTALLY emailing the speed-o-metors RIGHT NOW to tell them you're mispronouncing their name.

i expect you'll be hearing from their attorneys shortly.
  1:00am
efd:

hahaha!
  1:00am
efd:

@slugluv - as much as I love "Born To Be Alive" I'm a little afraid of that 12" since it boldly states "20 Minute Mix" on it!
  1:04am
efd:

good grief, the Speedometors actually have a myspace page!
http://www.myspace.com/speedometors
  1:14am
dave:

sadly, the sound samples do not include a brief tutorial on the proper pronunciation of the band name.
  1:23am
slugluv1313:

ooooooooooooo TWENTY MINUTES of "Born to be Alive"!!!!!!!!!

scary AND fun all at the same time!

is there a corresponding YouTube video which i can send to unsuspecting pals???

which leads me to wonder -- can a twenty minute video/re-mix of "Born to be Alive" be any scarier than Liza Minnelli's "Don't Drop Bombs" video???
  1:35am
slugluv1313:

all kidding aside, very cool stuff . . . WATCH THE CLOSING DOORS!
  3:41am
Lou:

I realize that it's been a while, but please spin "You're Breaking My Heart" by Daddy Maxfield. Actually, Ray Manzarek is playing synth on the B side, "Oh My."
Thanks
