The flooding in Hoboken and Jersey City made me enormously late today, so let's just say I'm a lot more receptive to requests than usual today...
9:12am
Vicki:
*silence*....!!
(how's about some classic mashups?)
9:12am
John from Oslo:
To bad they didn''t make Toyota Prius amphibious . Howsabout Bugotak's take on Deep Purple 's Highway Star? heh...
9:13am
Negator:
Reading Krautrock by Julian Cope currently. Great book on the movement.
9:16am
Listener Dave:
My request: Humpaa!!! Humpaa!!
9:17am
Ken:
Yes, it was my prius that did me in today. The water in Hoboken was almost up to the car window in places. I ditched the Prius, went home and grabbed my bicycle. couldnt bring any records with me or prepare at all once i got here..
9:21am
Vivian:
What about that UltraBlondie mashup from long ago? I think it includes Television and the Stooges. Another suggestion is live Television.
9:23am
Parq:
That digital skipping sounded the way my mind feels. It's that kinda morning.
9:28am
Pamela:
What a morning! Though I didn't need to mind visual of you in your underwear in the rain.
9:28am
Parq:
<listening to your monologue> Okay, so I was wrong, I *don't* know how you feel . . .
9:29am
Sarah:
Just wanted to express sympathy for your hellish morning. No requests, unfortunately; sorry I can't help.
9:29am
Pamela:
Request: something from Grease. :-)
You could always do a "Seven Second Delay" move and replay the Jesus Christ Superstar set.
9:30am
spacehoof:
im guessing that the special album that Ken pulled out is:
Tubular Bells
(or maybe ommadawn...one of these)
9:31am
Kat:
Senor Coconut, "Riders on the Storm"
9:32am
nh_dave:
Scary that there is another dave in the world that is a fan of humppa...
I have been really enjoying 'big blood' when it is played on others set. They are from portland maine and I can't find a lick of music from them anywhere so fmu (as usual) is the only source.
ooioo is good too however :)
9:33am
?:
of course, im kidding...
is it a lloyd cole album?
9:35am
Ken:
Close Spacehoof! But neither one is it.
9:36am
Christopher (London):
bad start to the day Ken. Lets hope it gets better - lets hear some mice parade (OOIOO reminds me a little of it.
I guess the album ken has ready is one by NEU!
9:36am
John from Oslo:
My guess on the mystery album is; something by Neil Young ... please let it not be "Trans" or "Everybody's Rockin'"
9:38am
Doldrums:
How bout some Hako/after dinner shit to finish up the Yoshimi
9:41am
north guinea hills:
damn, no L train, so I ran a mile to the M train, only to find it slooooowwww, and crowded. then went for the F train at the Delancey stop, and the whole platform was overflowing.... finally got a lost midget G train in Manhattan, and was only one hour late for work.
so, my requests are either georgia satellites/iannis xenakis/or skream
9:53am
Doldrums:
Nice! Now throw in a Speedy West curveball
9:54am
Wendy:
My psychic request already granted - anything with tabla on it
9:57am
Ken:
Working on those requests.. keep 'em comin' please! No to the Neu and Neil Young guesses. The featured "desperation album side" todaqy will be an album i have played before but never in its entirety. I will probably play only one side of it.
10:00am
Listener Dave:
t.a.t.u? Man you could slow that one down so much you'd kill an hour...
10:02am
NEGATOR:
PLAY SOME ZOLAR X OR SIMPLY SAUCER! THAT'L PICK YOU UP OFF THE FLOOR ZONE.
10:05am
Doldrums:
Hows about "Radio World" by Von LMO?
10:08am
Vivian:
Thank you for Blondie vs Mr. Trick. Since you asked for more suggestions, how about Laura Veirs and Lali Puna?
I hope your day progresses towards the dry and sewage free side.
10:11am
Listener Dave from NH:
Since you played an 18 minute track last week (that was last week's show, right?), why not go for the gusto and pull out a 20-ish minute track this week - Polmo Polpo's cover of "Kiss Me Again and Again"? Because it's a fantastic song and I can't get enough of it.
Or Steve Reich's "It's Gonna Rain"?
10:16am
drew:
Hi Ken. I'm stuck at home enjoying your show as the subways are still not running. I may have to take a city bus for the first time in decades. Maybe you can play Frankie Smith's "Double Dutch Bus" before I take my chances on the streets again? Thanks.
10:16am
NEGATOR:
tHANKS FOR THE SAUCER, KEN!
10:17am
efd:
I suggest "The Devil Glitch" by Chris Butler, clocking in at an unprepared-DJ-friendly 70 minutes! And, it's also really good!
Bonus: there's even a break 1hr in for the legal ID! (Although I guess that doesn't help at this point, but it's still a cool idea)
10:20am
reuben:
Your show at home is even better what a treat with real sound....you make realize that I am on the edge of a speeding rock headed for eternal blossoming or maybe just down some proverbial bowling lane....or maybe it's just the coffee mix
10:20am
Ken:
Polmo Polpo sounds interesting - we dont have it on CD though - is it on a comp, or on vinyl? That Steve Reich piece is one of my most hated pieces of music/audio of all time. Perhaps because I've heard it in its entirety like 20 times over the years...
10:22am
Mickey Mephistopheles:
OK...everyone will think I'm corny but I'm requesting it anyway. "Union Made" as performed by the Old Crow Medicine Show. BTW I'm curious as to what you're going to do with those "Hello Sweden, Albania, Japan, etc" greetings from last week.
10:26am
NEGATOR:
nICE PICK W/ VON SUDAFED!
10:29am
Ken:
Hey Buz - If you're listening or reading - can other listeners have a look at your proposed playlist redesign? If so, post the URL... if not, I will post it next week.
10:31am
Listener Dave from NH:
I've got it on CD (Discogs has it listed as a mini-CD here ( http://www.discogs.com/release/397676 ) , but mine's a full-size CD, just a single track) but it apparently came out on vinyl too ( http://www.discogs.com/release/537557 ).
Polmo Polpo and Arthur Russell are two great tastes that taste great together.
The Reich piece is fantastic as used in DJ Food's "Raiding the 20th Century" (thanks for the link to that once upon a time, by the way!) but in its entirety, yeah - it is a lot much.
Hooray for Dinosaur!
10:34am
Doldrums:
Dish out some Skip Spence. (No Von Lmo?)
10:34am
Lewis Gilbert:
Mellons!!!
10:40am
Brandon:
Its flooding up there, really? Their ain't a cloud in the sky in DC. Well, not that I am aware of anyway with all the lung choking haze and hallucination inducing heat. Could very well be doing anything....
10:42am
Sean Padilla:
Am I the only person who listens to Wire's "Send" WAAAY more than I do their first three albums?
10:45am
NEGATOR:
sECONDS ON THE sKIP sPENCE! kEEP EVERYTHING UNDER YOUR HAT! rEAD AND BURN IS A GREAT RECORD. wIRE ARE GODS OF R&r!
10:45am
Ann Arbor Doug:
I want to hear something that reminds me of the Audio Kitchen. Interpret that how you like.
10:46am
Holly Far:
Youre not alone, Send is their best record EVER.
10:53am
Doctor B:
A T.Rex cover? Von Lmo too? You are definitely the man!
Hope the flooding in J.C. isn't too bad. Up here in Broome County, NY, some towns got tuirned into bathtubs during last year's floods.
10:54am
Chris:
Track 3 from Future Lanuage is called Outside of Time.
Don't know if you found out yet though.
Thanks Ken!
10:55am
Gigantor:
Stuck on Train this morning--thought about having to resort to cannibalism if we could not get out. Please play Morricone's Cannibal!
10:56am
Ann Arbor Doug:
I only just started listening to 154/Chairs/Flag again after a long period of Send fixation.
10:57am
NEGATOR:

A Wizard! Great to hear -- Now I want to set my turntable back up!
11:02am
listener monica:
excellent choice, a wizard a true star. i'm listening while i do dishes this morning, (unlike usually from my car.) so i can hang out and listen to the whole thing. i didn't even know it was ken this morning, it's not his usual style. but i'm having a good time, and i hope my garage didn't flood.
11:16am
NEGATOR:
hOW DID YOU EXECUTE THAT WEIRD EDIT ON THE RECORD? sOUNDS LIKE BIRDYS....
11:18am
Ken:
That was the edit (of "the shit hits the fan") on the radio promo version of this album - I didn't make the edit myself.
11:35am
Christopher Fedail:
Request? The Crayon Fields "Do it First"
please, thanks Ken
11:38am
Pat:
That's funny, the online version of the New York Times isn't an inch and a half thinner.
11:39am
Listener Dave:
Why oh why did they shrink the Times?
Why oh why woule he sell my shorts?
Why oh why would you cut off the ears of a teddy bear?
Why oh why?
