A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

north guinea hills:

hmmm..., there's a congo's break (from their track "congo ashanti" in that cosmic rocker track near the beginning

(bored at work)
  9:19am
Mark:

Isaac Hayes, so smooth, love it. Nice remix - Moloko I think..?
  9:37am
55 Fingers:

re:Walk on By-I've got that album, used to play it alot. My band did an audition at CB's in '88 under the name HBA, (Hot Buttered Ass, derived from that lp). Today I'm in Bflo and getting into Trouble. Sounds good. Blossom Dearie maybe? (55, aka 22 Toes)
  9:40am
Moe Jeek:

Why is WFMU playing so much Joe Meek all of a sudden? Not that I'm complaining!
  10:02am
CeeDub:

I Love the Christian Life"
Graham Parsons Lives!!
  10:09am
Kat:

"Big Pink" was recorded in NYC, contrary to myth, 2nd LP "The Band" at Sammy Davis's cabana in LA. Your classic rock moment for today. Mavis Staples did fab "The Weight" at River to River last night, speaking of Stax.
  10:13am
pat:

Why is WFMU playing so much Pumice now?
  10:30am
Miss V:

Ken:

I tried watching Grey Gardens the other night and I just couldn't get through it. It was too creepy and depressing for me, with no payoff. And I LIKE creepy and depressing!
  11:21am
?:

it used to be like that for me too (grey gardens ==depresso) but now it's beautiful to me...i just love Edies spirit! shes got moxie!
  11:21am
Kat:

spacehoof! Yes, you're correct -- people confuse the "Big Pink" LP with the Basement Tapes, which _were_ recorded upstate and not originally intended for release as we all know. John "My Name Is Jack" Simon produced "Music from Big Pink" in Manhattan, somewhere in midtown -- I used to know studio name, can't remember now. RCA? Anybody?
  11:22am
Christopher Fedail:

PLAY THAT JEAN GIRL1
  11:32am
sebastian:

  11:52am
55 Fingers:

I'm schizophrenic with extra appendages and you all smell, so there.
  11:54am
DickDong:

on the contrary, Ali. Passive peaceful protest beats angry every time. Thanks for this afternoon.
Kind regards, DD, Chesterfield, UK
