Roger Le Brech:

j'aime bien ecouter ces airs anciens chantes par des personnes maintenant disparues sans doute pour l'agreable parfum de nostalgie qui s'en degage ...merci

Don Rose:

Enjoy your programs very much. I listen on line here in Catheys Valley Ca. If you can find it I'd like to hear Harry Humphrey's version of the Riley poem "Out to old Aunt Marys."

MathGeek:

That Harold Stern side was very nice. Any chance you can play the flip side of DD51815 which I understand is Black Bottom by the same group, or maybe DD51805LR by that group? I'd sure like to hear those other Stern tracks on your show sometime. Do you happen to know who the players were in that band?

Jerry:

Hi Don & MG- Requests noted. MG- See the 05-30-2006 program for "Black Bottom" DD 51815-L. I don't have the personnel for the Stern band, unfortunately. Thanks for the feedback!

IAN:

Particularly enjoyed the Dance bands and girl vocal trios. A belated Thanks for playing the Congo Four track a while back which I requested.

stuart thomas:

thrilled that i've just discovered your programme. i am a keen 78 collector; mostly HMV pressings, especially classical; but i enjoy a lot of the good quality pre-wwii pop also.

the dennis sisters track on this show was one of the most inventive and beautiful songs of its type i've ever heard. Delightful! More please! thank you so much for putting this programme on.

Robert Pridgen:

These old tunes sound terrific! I'm so glad that so many cyl.+disc records have been preserved. Thanks for playing the rare brown wax cyls.and for showing the great photos!

Randy Hammond:

I would enjoy hearing about the status of the collection at ENHS. What was saved and what has been lost? We see old pictures in books but did recording and or pressing equipment survive or was all of that scrapped? Are there things that the site is looking for to add back into the collection?
  1:28pm
Jerry:

Hi Randy- WFMU asks that I stick to general topics of recordings, music, artists, and history here, and not cover topics specific to Edison NHS. (They want to avoid this program being like an advertisement.) For information about Edison NHS, please see their website at http://www.nps.gov/edis/.

Steven G. Levine:

I finally got around to listening to this installment, and was surprised to discover it includes two songs which in the 1960's were slightly updated and performed by the Chad Mitchell Trio: "Putting on the style" and "...man that rode the mule..." which Mitchell renamed "The Great Historical Bum." Had you only included "Wreck of the Old 97" (redone as "Super Skier") you could have had a Chad Mitchell "trio"!

Kathleen:

The Dennis Sisters are my great-aunts...my own sister and I remember visiting with them as children. What fun to find them on this website. Thank you!
