This show still feels new to me. I remember when WKCR did an Americana show on Sundays (Tennesse Border?). Maybe they still do, but since I left the city, I don't listen to them. Nice to have this on a lazy weekend (even tho I'm at work).

Cricket, I just looked on Wickedpee at events in Eire, 1804. The last of the armed rebels from the 1798 rebellion were killed, captured. Also the first boat crossed along the new canal in Dublin. I'm not sure what the song means.

the liner notes give a little more info but no real conclusions: “It was in the Year Eighteen Hundred and Four This tune comes from the Forde Collection: a collection of pre-famine traditional Irish music noted by William Forde. This tune is nestled away in a part of the collection where no sources are mentioned, although all the pieces in this section were collected during Forde’s Cork years.
