Good Hello.

Howdy! Just had a bowl of Grape Nuts with oat milk. I warm it up in the microwave for one minute. It's so good. BTW-My microwave is 30 years old, and it works great.

I do love Grape Nuts. Good choice.

Now I'm having some hibiscus tea. I add a little ginger ale to make it like a fruit punch.

Hi Kris and Austin and folks.

I am perplexed by that postcard pic of what I suppose to be Boston. I know downtown Boston a bit and can see that this from before the major freeway highway construction was completed but what puzzles me is not seeing Fenway Park.

OG Grape Nuts with whatever milky libation you prefer, then nuke it for 60 seconds. It's perfect. I still eat it cold, but warmed over is excellent.

I don't know that brand! I'll have to investigate. I like Reed's, which I see quite often. I'm equal opportunity. So long as it isn't a bottom shelf "never heard of it" brand, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Was there a competing station, that branded itself, "The Mizzenmast"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05pm
Austin Rich:

I'm sure I've talked about this before, but one of my favorite late-era series that Don Joyce ran on "Over The Edge" was the, "How Radio Was Done," series. More or less, it was just various airchecks that he tracked down, broadcast roughly in chronological order. He would mix back and forth between airchecks from roughly the same time period, and it became a kaleidoscopic overview of what radio used to sound like. I think that series ran almost 100 episodes?

Was this a commercial station? I know there's lots of Irish in Boston, but still odd to hear on a non-public station

I think Fenway is closer to the horizon in this photo. My brother went to Northeastern in the mid-70s.

I heard that she would change the lyrics to suit each city, e.g.: replacing the Boston references with, say, Portland landmarks.

First National = Finast

We had a Finast in my hometown of Port Chester, NY which is on the border with CT, and was originally part of CT until they changed teams from New England.

There are plenty of folk making "EZ/lounge" covers of modern pop hits, but they do it as a bit of a joke. In the '60s, they didn't know it was kitsch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm

So Jess Cain had the basic idea for "Anchorman" as a joke during one of his voice overs in 1967?

When I was living in Portland, the public library had a "Radio" section, and it actually had tapes and CDs of old radio shows. I started checking out everything in that section, just to see what they were, and if I might like them. Most of it was old radio dramas, but not knowing what it was, bringing home a Bob & Ray set was one of the best discoveries I made via the library that way. It was a real eye opener; I had never heard or seen them before.

That's great! I've said this many times that my whole family bonded around listening to Bob & Ray on WOR-AM radio in the 70s. We delayed leaving the house to go to my sister's house for Thanksgiving because Bob & Ray were still on. We kept laughing about the show on the road trip.
