Just realized that this Richard Diamond radio show is where drummer stream host Stork got his intro from. The exchange at the beginning of this episode was very similar to the one Stork uses. In that one the client tells Diamond that he can see the client and the client's wife at The Stork Club (hence Stork's choice of the bit for his intro).

I sort of appreciate the mixture of tones in this show. Real life is full of comedy, and tragedy, and horror, and embarrassment, and all sorts of things. But most entertainment tries to keep one tone, which is so much more unrealistic.

In a way, it's easier not to play the "genre" game, but eventually people ask, "What kind of show is it?" so you have to start hyphenating disconnected things...

They showed the Dick Powell films “Cornered” and “Murder, My Sweet” yesterday on the MOVIES! network, and will show them again Thursday.

I find these schedule change notices to be fascinating. I know that, for the stations that ran X-Minus One (and kept running it), mail usually came in often enough to keep the show running. Many stations where it was popular would re-run old episodes during off-weeks (like the one mentioned), so fans wouldn't forget. There was so little Sci-Fi on the radio at all, and the audience was so poorly served that, fans would let stations know that they were listening.

There is at least one recorded instance of a mail campaign by fans saving "Dimension X" when NBC was considering canceling the show. Some people think the letter writing campaign to save Star Trek was inspired by the ones that saved various Sci-Fi radio shows in the 50's.

I read Robert Sheckeley’s “The Seventh Victim”, which was made into the “The 10th Victim” starring Marcello Mastroianni and Ursula Andress.
That 1965 Italian movie was spoofed in SCTV and “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me”. (The band Ming Tea, who sang “BBC” in the first Austin Powers movie, found their name in “The 10th Victim”.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm

The incidental music and library tunes that X-Minus One use are much better than the usual radio show, and I think NBC's library music was better than average, short of having a live orchestra. I certainly want to track down all the source library music someday. I track down bits here and there.
