From the UK in a big way comes classic DJ, Orange Peel. A transplant from the North of England, stuck in suburban California since the 1960's. He spins scintillating sunshine sixties psych, pop & beat.

Yes, will we have any education system? IF SO, will the textbooks allow true factual history? Is the public so dumbed down now that it doesn't matter?
  5:51pm
nadia and pete:

↳ WLSClark @5:50
the screens are what is dumbing us down. what i hate is how the schools teach everything on screens now. you dont learn that way! just because it's new technology doesnt mean its better!
Avatar 5:52pm
WLSClark:

yet ANOTHER son Reparata does great, but also Brian Hyland! Do I sense that Brian Hyland might be CTTS topic later?
Avatar 5:53pm
WLSClark:

↳ nadia and pete @5:51
Yes, I wish the internet had never happened. LIFE was so much better without it (sorry OP). EVERYTHING was better without it.

My colleagues and I are doing all we can to see these kids through.
Avatar 5:53pm
Erica:

↳ nadia and pete @5:51
Honestly it's not just the screens but the attention spans too. Even if a child read a book they probably couldn't keep their attention that way either.
Avatar 5:54pm
DA the DJ:

Thanks everyone!
Avatar 5:54pm
Erica:

↳ WLSClark @5:53
But if the Internet didn't happen, we wouldn't be chatting about this right now lol.

Thanks DA.

I teach 8th grade writing. My kiddos and I both prefer physical copies, and my principal is supportive of our teaching how we choose, so I am mostly only using iPads for typing and research. My daily editing exercises and the like are all on paper.
  5:55pm
nadia and pete:

yes definetely, everything about the internet. it has some good sides but mostly bad sides. thanks for the show! time for techtonic to rant more about the internet!

↳ Erica @5:54
Truth!
Avatar 5:57pm
uptownjen:

↳ nadia and pete @5:51
The big problem is my kids are exhausted from staying up all night on their phones.
Avatar 5:57pm
Erica:

↳ uptownjen @5:55
But if we didn't have Internet, we wouldn't have more information (sometimes unreliable) to work with especially when writing a book to use for research. We'd still be using newspapers or word of mouth.
  5:58pm
Barbaric Yawp:

So glad to hear, @uptownjen
Part of why I quit teaching was the senseless overuse of tencnology. Humans need the physical, baby!
  5:58pm
nadia and pete:

↳ uptownjen @5:57
thats too bad. i (nadia) am a teen and the only one i know without a phone as a choice. it's lonely in the vangaurd.
  5:59pm
nadia and pete:

↳ Barbaric Yawp @5:58
humans are physical beings!

And yet we choose to use technology to complain about people using technology.
