Yeah, I never had cable either. There was a show on TBS, which was local, called Night Tracks that had some of videos, not a big rotation. I remember it had "Owner of a Lonely Heart" a LOT, though.

In the early 80s there was a rock video show on after SNL and SCTV called Rock World. Buzzcocks, Clash, Cramps etc. videos. Real cutting edge stuff. Pre dates MTV. Look up on YouTube.

Growing up in eNZed we had a TV show called "Radio With Pictures"...pre dated MTV by 4 years.
Seen by Mike Nesmith when he was on tour he raved about it....which supposedly led to MTV being formed.

And yeah, I think we got a color TV in 1981ish? TVs lasted a while! We weren't going to get a new one till the old one broke. Hell, I only got a flatscreen about three years ago when my CRT finally gave up the ghost -- or, more accurately, when it developed a loud audio hum and all the TV repair shops around here had disappeared.
