It's fucking insane & I don't know when it happened.

Only waitrose wholemeal seems 'safe'.

Same thing has happened to tomatos & carrots, even raw ones, they are getting ever sweeter. Frozen mixed veg all tastes like it has sweet corn it even if it hasn't, & if it has you could save on icing & just decorate a cake with it it's that effing sweet.

Same thing is happening to ketchup & other such sauces.

So it would seem.

I've seen stuff about rendered down maize husks (hfcs?) being the reason for yank obesity.

But I thought maize husks were cattle feed & also for ethanol to be added to petrol.

But the selective breeding of the carrots & tomatoes to the exclusion of other strains seems actively pointless. I'm hoping that M&S or waitrose start stocking unsweetened carrots & Tom's.

It'll be the spuds next I suppose.

During COVID I started hearing more and more of this looper stuff (and was guilty of some of it myself). People weren't getting together to play anymore, so they were trying to figure out how to do it all solo, assisted by electronics. But IMO there's something missing when there's no interplay between players, and it's just one musician and a looper. No changes, no satisfying endings, a bit too much repetition. Just my opinion of course.

Get that totally. Sort of the Matthew Sweet "Sick of Myself" syndrome. But when Seawind plays live, there's usually two of three of them playing. (but not always!)

Loopers have their place when one is doing ambient stuff and can't find like-minded musicians.

I agree however, interplay between musicians is important. There's a special high one gets one communicating telepathically with other players.

Thanks for the great tunes, Carol! Please don't take my critical comments the wrong way, you know I love this show. I'm just a little tired of looper pedals - I sold mine and am now trying harder to connect with like-minded musicians.

For what it's worth, Cooper is certain that his broken foot is fully healed and has been since day 4 after he broke it, but I'm still trying to keep him off it until we get the followup X-rays

yeah, or just if you're tired of it. i was working on a technique where parts would decay over time (like Frippertronics?), but that is also limiting too, just in a different way
