Sounding good! However, "Imagination-Painting" is not a word, dude. That little tiny dash needs to be two dashes, and even better, you could use a space before and after the two dashes. Then it would be readable.

Right now the title of the show is basically A Detrimental Lack of ImaginationPainting "Dogshit Variations" by Michael Donnelly, which is just gibberish.

Cool painting though!

He says --- Bach is timeless and Bach is great on the harmonica. On piano, pedal is a device of tone not of blurr, so of course always pedal on the piano.

↳ ViolaChica @10:39
He continued -- Bach himself grabbed previously written music and rewrote it for different instrument combinations when he was running out of time for a gig. It makes no difference what instrument you are playing it on it is pure music.

I've liked the west coast Buddhist podcast Audio Dharma. They've looked into this stuff for a few thousand years already...
But if you want - Meditation can certainly be the most solitary thing in the world.
& you can start anywhere & anyplace & anytime.
Just focus on your breath.
The mind will drift. That is noise. If you get uptight or judgmental about the noise - that's more noise.
So just return to the center.
& focus on your breath again.
No doctrine - no payments.
It's all yours.

you don't have to pay for t.m.; but if you choose your mantra yourself you're more likely to choose one that doesn't work for you, because you'll have some sort of connection to it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm

Jonathan if you're looking for good background music for meditation (not t.m.)
Jacob Kirkegaard (sp?) has an album called "4 rooms" that might be very good for that.

Anything you focus on - even an image of the Buddha - is just somewhere to hang your attention like you hang your hat on a hook. It's all idols - so know where the idol is - precisely to knock it off the pedastal.

Music is the thing that comes closest to the profundity of Silence.
But why have Music when you Meditate ?

↳ Revolution Rabbit Nov63 @11:11
right. that's one kind of meditation.
my aunt used to stare at a flame to meditate. (pretty obvious, right?)
but transcendental is the opposite. you're supposed to focus on NOTHING.
which is why you get a mantra that's *kind of* like a word, but not an actual word. so it's just a sound. and by repeating it over and over your mind should become at least somewhat devoid of thoughts; because you're focussing on something that means nothing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm

I just focused on breath going in & out. I did use a Xian mantra for a bit when I thot I was still a Xian.
But this was admittedly long long ago. Closest I've come since is the guided meditations on Audio Dharma.
'Meditation works ...but only if you do it.'
Avatar 11:21pm
ViolaChica:

↳ coelacanth∅ @11:16
I've done that as well. Sri Dharma Mittra used to lead meditation that way after his yoga class. It left an imprint in my mind's eye of light -- a constant reminder subconsciously. The experience of tuning into the detail of a flickering flame was impactful as well.

They make the point there ...any task you do - you consider which tool to use first. But when it comes to our philosophy, our thinking, our perception & our happiness - we don't do that. Cause the 'tool' is ourselves. Meditating might be the most constructive thing anyone can do...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm
coelacanth∅:

↳ ViolaChica @11:21
i guess i've done it - without the intention to meditate!
