What I have found, since I deal with anxiety even in the best of times, is that breathing really helps. I breathe and count. Breathe in for 5 seconds, hold for 6 seconds, exhale for 7 seconds. Repeat.
It is a very helpful way to calm oneself down or drop off to sleep.

I recall reading that Melatonin only works if it is taken regularly before sleep attempts.

For me, TM style mantra meditation was the only thing that helped severe insomnia. I used to go several days without sleep regularly until then.

Additionally, Amanitas mushrooom capsules are like a natural form of Xanax, depending on the laws in your state...

My favorite soundtrack/score without question is THE THING, as it has elements of John Carpenter and Ennio Morricone. Completely unparalleled as far as I'm concerned, and the movie itself does the score no justice, although I do love the movie.

Something that was fairly recently reissued was Mitchell Froom's "Key of Cool", which in itself is not a soundtrack, but Froom was approached during the process of creating the music, and so stripped down versions of it are in the X rated film "Cafe Flesh", which is very surreal. I know this from working at a video store in the early 2000s... and being around other people who were "experts".
