The studio version of The Acid Lands was made in late 2019/early 2020 in collaboration with Bill Laswell and Iggy Pop, who undertook the role of the narrator. Don't know if anyone picked up on this, but the later era of Soft Machine seems to show off a bit of a Zappa influence, perhaps unintentionally on their part. But it's likely they would've heard Zappa by chance and decided to incorporate elements of his trademark random hooks into their repertoire.
