This is a "rehearsal" version of a story that we have heard on the show before. When Rogue's Gallery moved to another station, they started to re-use some of the old stories from earlier in the run. This was a show that they were going to air, and rehearsed. But it wasn't long before the show was canceled, and Dick Powell moved on to his next show, "Richard Diamond."

"The only remaining electric car."

Electric Cars were popular in the 30's, but companies that made gas cars forced those electric car companies out of business. We used to have cool electric cars back in the day...

The sound on this recording, originally, is pretty bad. I did a fair amount of work to try and clean it up, but you can still hear scrapes and pops and crackles here and there.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 9:08pm

There's one moment, during this show, that reveals the "rehearsal" nature of the show. It's near the end, and fairly obvious, otherwise I'd have a "spot the flub" contest.

We are near the end of the "Rogue's Gallery" run. The show was on for much longer, but not that many shows survived into the modern age. There's one more show - with a different actor, when they tried to reboot the show - that we'll also hear. Then we'll move on to "Richard Diamond," the detective show Dick Powell starred in just after this.

Since I'm trying to restore sound on a recording where the voices already sound muddy and have some consonants "rounded off," this restored version also sounds like the voices have that quality. There's only so much restoration can do for the voices of 80 years ago.

The most unbelievable thing about shows like this is that Rocky and Sam have a conversation like that in every episode. You would think. after a while, Sam would realize that it's never Rocky, and that he should be a little more forgiving.

More re chickens, there are urban chickens who live on my street and sometimes they get out and go parading. I've seen the posts on the neighborhood pages when they're out and I always rush to the window but have yet to see the chicken parade. One of these days, I will!

Adobe recently released some new "voice restoration" software, and they have done wonders when I run them over old radio shows. The previous version was a little buggy, but their new version of the software is much better. Everything you heard tonight was rendered with a layer of "improved" voices mixed in.

We live in enough of a rural area that we see chickens wandering around all the time. There's a few places where they can get hit by careless drivers, so it's a little sad to drive that way sometimes.

↳ Song: ""Two Rackets In One Pt. 1"" by "The Blue Beetle"
"Blue Beetle" was one of the last movies in the discontinued DCEU franchise, which will be replaced by James Gunn’s DCU.
Gunn intends to keep the movie in canon, however, declaring that “the first DCU character…is Blue Beetle”.
