The Wobblies organized a strike at a copper mine in Bisbee, AZ in 1917. In response, the mining company, with the help of local police, loaded all the strikers on a train and dumped them in the middle of the desert in New Mexico. There was a great documentary called Bisbee '17 about local residents doing a reenactment of this 100 years later.
