So very, very true. I need to do this occasionally.
When I stopped my first soul party gig - I did for nearly a decade... I put away my soul 45s for about 4 years
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm
Kim Sorise:

↳ Kim Sorise @7:24
Also it allows me to get things I am not regularly playing, listening to or taking our for gigs put away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
coelacanth∅:

have i ever done that? hmmm...
maybe with rock music in the late 70s, then punk only a few years later.
but my mindset was more like giving up on it, than taking a break!
fortunately i was able to go back to it after the mostly horrific 80s.
jazz has always been one of several styles of music in my world; so it ebbs and flows, but has always been there -with little risk of overindulgence
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm
coelacanth∅:

(same with r&b...although combined it's probably >2/3 of what i listen to)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm
Kim Sorise:

↳ coelacanth∅ @7:36
Agreed. Jazz, soul, r&b, braslian artists make up the bulk. I go through periods of nostalgia and like to go back and sometimes gigs require a musical shift, but I do less of those as well.
