Big Jonathan fan here, have seen him 4-5 times but the last show I saw was disapointing (Outpost in the Burbs, maybe 2-3 years ago), he might've spent as much time talking as singing. Whole show was < 1 hour. No encore despite very receptive crowd. Was a real bummer

I think Jonathan has the most endearing stage manner of anyone I’ve ever seen (even when he’s insisting a fan way offstage back in the kitchen or a buzzing light 20 feet overhead be switched off before he’ll begin/continue).
Took a friend 11 years ago who didn’t know any of his music, and she loved it. Instant fan.

I saw a pretty strange solo Bob Mould show last night. (I don't know why he wants to go solo, he could probably pull people out of the audience and we could have a good Hüsker Dü show.) But he talked _a lot_. Best part was his impression of Jello Biafra, who let HD stay at his house, on his porch, and suggested they would do well to go apply for food stamps and bring home some food.

Yo, SQUINTS! My Dodgers are in the NLCS again! Hope they have better luck than in recent years. About 6 weeks ago, our VA recreation therapists took a handful of us to a Miami Marlins game. Great experience! Hadn't been to a live baseball game since the OREL HERSHISER days in LA. We got free admission, including food as well. And the home team won in the bottom of the 9th! Marlins Stadium is a beautiful domed facility. School was out for summer, so the place was crawling with kids in city recreation programs or with camp groups and their counselors, all wearing matching t-shirts. A fun time was had by all!

I liked the Dodgers OK back then, Gerry. That Mets club had gotten arrogant and unlikable as the 1980s wore on, and 1986 still made me sad. (A great many hurts washed away in 2004 and I'm fine with 'em since their pinstripes aren't navy. That 2015 club that made the WS seemed like a real loose clubhouse.) The 1988 Dodgers were a very likable ballclub. Mostly I envy now that they spend like the Sox did once and ought to now and it somehow never seems to cost the Dodgers in terms of developing talent. It tickles me that only one they one recently was in an asterisky year, and I even begrudge them that one somewhat. Still, I don't hate The Bums like I hate Atletico Palpatine in The Bronx.
