so the following xmas i asked for a sears 1-speed girls stingray bicycle with coaster brakes...but my parents decided i should be too grown-up for that. they tried to talk me into a 10-speed, but i strongly objected. (of course, i couldn't tell them i was jumping ramps and having "suicide rallies" where we intentionally crashed into each-other) so they gave me a very elaborate larger murray 3-speed stingray. the back wheel was larger, which i loved, and the paint was a gradual dark blue-violet-hot pink-deep red, metallic. "stick shifter; padded sissy bar! but it was heavy, and i couldn't do 40' skids down gallows hill road because no coaster brake.
and it fell apart.
i wasn't to get another new bicycle 'till i bought a mountain bike about 25 years later.
