Sounds ripped from cassettes & CDs found in immigrant-run mom & pop stores. Deconstructed icons. Field recordings. Sonic mayhem from the far corners of the internet.

The info on the bc page you link (for the Persona album SOM) hints at the reason for the image, something about "gilded glass". I'm going down the rabbit hole.

Seems nearly all the original releases of the work of Damião Experiença were self released on vinyl. There is a lot. en.wikipedia.org...
119 tracks have been archived on Archive.org. archive.org...
Someone did a compilation of Damião Experiença that is listed with some detail of track source on discogs.com www.discogs.com...
The Discogs compilation is not the same as the archive.org compilation, but there is significant overlap and the Discogs listing gives some context for the recordings.

i LOVED that International Animation Festival when i was a kid too!
(maybe i have mentioned this to you before? been trying to track down a Hungarian piece -- pen and ink, iirc -- a man plants a seeds, tends to it, nurtures it lovingly until it is this tall beautiful tree -- from which he hangs himself -- "typical Hungarian 'humor,'" as my Mom laughed)

Animation? Does everybody know the Oscar award-winning Frank Film?

When PBS was a little freaky & actually Alternative. Not so geriatric & pandering...

i mean, my gateway drug to Monty Python 🦔🦔
(my Mom LOVED PBS -- but she would get totally freaked out if there was an appearance by a topless woman -- even if it was just one of Gilliam's animations!)
there are some really blurry clips on youtube, but i think even there, some have commented that the series has not been reissued or anything bc of international copyright issues, etc.

turned 65 this year too -- but totally Hell's Grannies, International -- i just cannot "relate" to PBS anymore
(i mean, i used to love the Nature documentaries -- and series like Spice Island Saga -- but i do not think there is anything even remotely like that on nowadays)

My mom bitched about my playing records too loud, e.g., Faces. Fast forward a few decades and she's all, "That Rod Stewart! Isn't he wonderful?"

omg sounds like my Dad!
he HATED The Rolling Stones (i loved them when i was a kid)
then, a "muzak" version of "As Tears Go By" comes on his "easy listening" station and he comments on what a "nice" song it is, and "why can't you listen to nice music like this?" etc. -- and i explain that, "uh, this was written by The Rolling Stones" -- and he totally loses it!

But nothing beats My Word, which very well could be a BBC program. Spectacular wordplay.
tttps: I don't view programs, so I have no idea how announcers gesture and so forth. For me, the gaze is expendable. Of all the senses, I least like sight. It is replete with error.

I just turned 67, so greetings to the other emeritus listeners.
I had to explain the actual Spanish Inquisition to my kids, then explain the Monty Python sketch. Spectacular failure.
I use the “filthy hippie” phrase as a comedic homage to my father, who used it to encompass most everyone my age. But he went to church every day of his life, so not unexpected.
