That first Kihn album shows him north of the Berkeley campus outside Rather Ripped Records, which was something of a Beserkley ground zero for punk and off-the-wall records. Alas, it is now a coffee shop.

Kihn's guitarist, Robbie Dunbar, was in another Beserkley (and A&M) band, Earth Quake. His brother, Tommy Dunbar, started The Rubinoo's, still another. Robbie often appears at a nearby pub in various ensembles.

Do you remember Yesterday & Today (aka Y&T), another Bay Area metal/rock band? They're still playing, just did a gig at a club in Berkeley. I would have gone, but it sold out. Saw them way back in the day at the Starwood in Hollywood.
