I'd love to read that Berenson, too, but I've had Gombrich's biography (give or take) of Aby Warburg for years, and it remains unread.

I first became interested in O'Brien thanks to the late, lamented Andrea Dworkin, whom I adore. One of the epigraphs in which comes from her novella Night:

'He lost no time, got his belt undone, said "I could go through you like butter."'

The line is effective, both in the novella and in Dworkin's supreme Intercourse.
