The Radio Is Broken is a three-hour spelunk through the canyons and fissures of humanity's collective unconscious. It sounds as if a field recording of the Culture Industry were a sonic juggernaut barreling down a rickety track—except that tunnel ahead is just painted onto a sheer cliff wall. With occasional forays into what might pass for "normal" music. Prerequisite journey: Cratedigger's Lung

Firesign Theatre  Our Election Sponsors / The Simplex Slicer   Favoriting Not Insane 1980! Campaign Chronicles  Firesign/Bandcamp  2024  "Elections! They're fun, right? RIGHT!? You'll have to speak up, we can't hear over your hysterical sobbing!! Yes, in 1980 Americans gathered in the public square of their minds and considered the many candidates for President. Boy, were they garbage. So obviously it was time for the Firesign Theatre, a group more interested in American trash than any other American artists, to come haul it away in the form of their weekly commentaries for NPR, "Campaign Chronicles"!

Broadcasting weekly on "Morning Edition", Firesign provided useful thumbnails of every Presidential candidate, offered helpful summaries of the big campaign issues, did vox pops with a variety of real, totally not fake average citizens, and—in an exclusive that somehow no other network ever followed—gave regular updates on the star-crossed campaign of Republican candidate Daffy Duck."

Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel in Old Montreal, the Botanical Garden, "the mountain" Mount-Royal (do you hike?), the Plateau Mont-Royal and Mile-End area, Quartier des Spectacles, record stores the art museums (check what's on exhibit). St-Viateur Bagel & Café Mont-Royal so you can sit and eat - EFD just went there. Schwartz's Deli for smoked meat sandwich if the line isn't completely ridiculous, try going early (you won't need to eat again for quite a while).
