Alpine yodeling did start as a method of communication according to general consensus. Then it got mixed into schlager and schottisches and polkas. Then it was brought into American popular music (minstrel shows, vaudeville) for comic effect/racist caricatures of German/Swiss immigrants. Then it got ported into cowboy western music.

Maybe it's like meditation where you have a mantra. Put together some words & syllables that you like and repeat them in a yodel style. You can gain experience and confidence. <Doodle diddle piddle puddle>
