"He drops by Mount Sinai
Where they're running through some tests
And they've taped things to his chest
And they're all doing their best
To make him feel at ease
The doctor says it's really just
An educated guess
I suggest you get some rest
Try to cut back on the stress
Cause I don't like what I see
But the action hero
Swears he feels just fine
He's got to finish saving
The world for all mankind
He's an action hero
He's an action hero
And he's racing against time" A.S./ Fountains of Wayne

Although I could not find statistical data online, it seems to me that every other cancer patient that comes in for treatment is a NJ teacher.
Environmentally disturbing.
Lots of old school buildings in NJ with (still) lots of toxic materials in them.
I know, I worked in well over 100 of them in NJ in my alarm service career, as well as in NY and locales all over the U.S.

I can't say "all" for sure.
I witnessed many asbestos abatement programs in progress as late as 2010, over my 30 years in/out of buildings.
Many NJ (and other states) school buildings were built decades ago. Material safety was often unknown & or ignored in favor of cost cutting / tax savings for taxpayers.
Aside from asbestos there are other toxins I encountered as a part-time custodian in PA, after I left the alarm service industry.
I mention it because early diagnosis & treatment can have many cancers survivable & give the person at least some control in their treatment options.
Cheryl The Nerd:
Coming on here just to say THANKS to efd for playing this one. And if anybody here is a theatre nerd, I suggest checking out the CHESS original London soundtrack recording. All the music on that album is good, not just this song.

Quick Ian Drury story.
Bruce Thomas said in his book "Rough Notes" that during the early STIFF Records compilation tour(s) Elvis Costello,Nick Lowe, Ian Drury & The Blockheads & Wreckless Eric..even EC & The Attractions dreaded following Ian Drury on stage, as Drury & his band were always top notch live and the ones to beat nightly.
It actually made The Attractions up their game.
Ian Drury ...Respect!

Speaking of which: I once saw a documentary on a blind from birth dude who developed such technique. Then I watched a Be Smart video and apparently it is very common to use ears to navigate passively or actively (with emitting sound) pretty much like a sonar. Fascinating. I can find the links.
