The Doors | Horse Latitudes | Strange Days | Elektra | 1967 | Strange Days is the Doors' 2nd album / The horse latitudes are located at about 30 degrees north and south of the equator. It is common in this region of the subtropics for winds to diverge and either flow toward the poles (known as the prevailing westerlies) or toward the equator (known as the trade winds). These diverging winds are the result of an area of high pressure, which is characterized by calm winds, sunny skies, and little or no precipitation. According to legend, the term comes from ships sailing to the New World that would often become stalled for days or even weeks when they encountered areas of high pressure and calm winds. Many of these ships carried horses to the Americas as part of their cargo. Unable to sail and resupply due to lack of wind, crews often ran out of drinking water. To conserve scarce water, sailors on these ships would sometimes throw the horses they were transporting overboard. Thus, the phrase 'horse latitudes' was born. / Morrison wrote this poem while in high school after seeing a paperback cover of horses being thrown off a boat. | 0:53:42 (Pop-up) | ||||

(Haven’t looked up yet) British?
- reminiscing, will never forget how my jaw-dropped & ears percolated when first listening to Negativland ‘big 10-8 place’ (1983) from Wayside mailorder.
It was a happening. back catalog time.
Who knew it would all last for so many dang years!

I'll never go to Shakespeare & Co. because they stole books I had ordered from another bookshop. They are iconic and popular. But ruthless thieves using their reputation to crush others by getting books delivered to them instead. I only paid once each time it happened, but the other bookshop had to eat the cost. They are evil

"""
Majestic and imposing is the Notre Dame Cathedral, while on the Senna as joyful
and dancing strangers we're getting closer to each other in musical ceremonies.
Involving our souls and intoxicating ourselves of wine and hashish. These
pleasure's delights are increased by the evocative Moon which is rising high in
the sky between the clouds, right there beside that gothic stateliness.
The lights reflected by the water are waking the most of everything on both
sides of the bridge under we are staying to an overwhelming acoustic. Between
direct sounds and feedbacks, which pressing are moving along and that are
audible up to four bridges form here in both directions.
Directions to go all over for a glad and nightly walk after dances, laughings,
the crackling hands of who's without a musical instrument, rather than the
drunken and screaming voices. And in this ritualistic time of this night I feel
admiration and I rediscover the contact.
Now, in front of the front door, we're standing and asking ourselves if it could
be too late to scream someone's name in order to be able to get in. But our
doubts have been vanished, once again, by a friendly welcoming.
Here we are, finally in!
I have that feeling again, now stranger than when I came here, when the library
was full of people. People who come here to find a book as usually happens in
any bookshop or library. But then... enchanted and lured by silent screaming
books, they stop here for a reading in this magic and comfortable place.
Our bed it's in the Russian section, at the ground floor. I'm admiring silently
and still incredulous while I'm laying down on the bed. It seems to me that I
can feel all the books and all the people who touched them. While in a deafening
silence I'm going toward the within of Oneiric landscapes.

Thank you George, it was a magic time to be.
