Oh yes, in La Puente, where Franco's family home is, last year (illegal) fireworks were being launched over us in the backyard, and in the street all night!
Just a few where I am. And then there was the 6 a.m. fireworks last year. LOL
My friend lives about three miles away and it's total chaos there.

Last week I heard on the news radio that some poor bastard got his left hand completely blown off, and also lost a fingers of his right hand. And he was in his fifties. Go figure . . .
Micah, you’ve really nailed it, apparently having dug up the most depressing, unheard ballads of that period.
We thought times were dark then. Ha!

I live about a mile from the site of the Wawa-sponsored July 4th concert (Ne-Yo and Kesha this year) and fireworks. I might drag a camp chair to the vicinity around fireworks time.
FREEDOM! Liberty! COME AND TAKE IT! “I’m GOING TO STAY HERE AND HAVE A PART OF IT JUST LIKE YOU AND NO FACIST MINDED PERSON IS GOING TO DRIVE ME FROM IT! Is that clear?”
The only problem with doing such melancholy music for this 4th of July is, what can you do to top it next year? Especially if the Presidential election goes the wrong way, as it's now looking it probably will. Well, let's look at the bright side: Maybe you-know-who, if he's elected, will blow up the world before next July 4th.
Evil does not naturally dwell in the world. In events or in people. Evil is a byproduct of forgetfulness and laziness and so on. When we remember our true aim… we overcome. There is this potential in everyone no matter what
true -- even in humans, infants are born totally innocent, uncorrupted, basically as perfect as other species -- they only learn to be evil from other humans
Micah, this has been a brilliantly sad show. I've loved almost all of these songs. However, there is just so much I can take in one sitting, so I may leave a bit early. Perhaps I'll later catch the parts I missed, from the Archive.
I feel like I need to get it together:
Humans should never fall in love:
What a dum dum I am
On top offing in love w others who love me not
The world is dark
Trying to stay a light
i am not going to give you phony cheerleader crap like "sending you love and light" -- but i DO want you to feel better! and send "positive energy" your way (corny as that sounds)
the world is dark indeed, but the WFMU family/universe is true love
I'm really sorry to hear that, Juli. When I feel like that way, I like to tell myself "This too shall pass." It won't last forever. Hope it turns for you soon.
Thanks all. has been depressively uplifting being with you. looking for my thunder shirt and somewhere to hide before it gets dark. Take care radio friends.
