The LA late '70s punk scene enjoyed a modicum of queer expression, too. Never ideal, but net progress, I'd say.

I myself can't get into chain burgers. In these parts, Red Onion under the BART track at N. El Cerrito is pretty amazing.

thank you, Suzy!!!
(been listening, just away from comments board . . . it is like 8 billion per cent humidity, and what am i doing? *trying* to clean, organize, etc. -- have not had a day off to do so in ages)
i met Jayne when she did a reading from her just-published "Man Enough to Be a Woman" at Tower Books -- what a freaking hoot! one of the best readings/performances EVER!
i was working there, and i brought all my 45s, EPs -- going all the way back to "Max's Kansas City" by "Wayne County and The Backstreet Boys" -- and i think she signed all of them! Leee Black Childers was there too -- both such total total sweethearts (Leee was amazed that i still had all those records - - like, "wow! I don't even have all of those!")

Re: nature, god I could do without it. I can't imagine hiking, which is less interesting even than golfing. Nature pisses me off on a daily basis: viruses, pandemics, cancer, crises, disasters... What a shit show.
But, yeah, those mountains sure are pretty!
