I'm not sure it was very good, though the shear audacity of it kind of knocked me out. I saw it again at BAM a few years ago and it is still gloriously unhinged. The production design is still striking. It was definitely a departure for Paul Schrader, one of my favorite filmmakers.

	9:54pm Marie in Chicago: I think I have come to prefer cats. I'm reading memoir by Caleb Carr (recently deceased) about his life and mostly his life with this half-wild Siberian rescue cat. It's called My Beloved Monster. I recommend it @) It's full of info about cats as well as his story. My cat, Willy, is like a small dog in some ways.

This album evokes the sounds of the East Village in the late 90s since that is where I was living at the time. I think they were living around there too.

I guess the 90s was the decade of the underground briefly bubbling up above ground. I think my copy was actually a promo copy, which I wasn't supposed to have, though many promo copies circulated around East Village CD stores at the time.

I'm not sure it was very good, though the shear audacity of it kind of knocked me out. I saw it again at BAM a few years ago and it is still gloriously unhinged. The production design is still striking. It was definitely a departure for Paul Schrader, one of my favorite filmmakers.
