One thing I think is ...being able to articulate your opinion well (to Write good) doesn't make that opinion any more valid or not.
To just say 'I like this' - or 'I don't like this' - is a 100% legit statement. Taking one step outside that tho - & you're in the zone you have to support your assertions... I'm not sure just being scrappier about that makes you more worth paying attention to... & it's safe to say being contentious gets attention as a commercial Critic, tho... In other words, it's tricky stuff entering the realm of Objectivity with things as Subjective as the Musics. Which is not to say I don't aspire to it...

Steve Goulding doesn't get enough props. I've seen him countless times with the Mekons, a couple with Graham Parker and the Rumour and with Megan Reilly, among others, and he is always great. I never noticed his songwriting credit on the Lowe tune, though. Good to know.

Was surprised to learn that Goulding was the drummer on The Cure's "Let's Go to Bed." The SG trivia is *always* "Watching the Detectives."

Hey, somebody asked if Sam Ulano is the drummer featured in Taxi Driver , and I said it was. Well. I saw Taxi Driver last week, and it's not. At least not credited under this name.
