	♥ 10:42pm Fatherflot: ↳ DJ Terre T @10:31 As I recall from studying Japanese, the syllable set ら, り,る, れ, ろ is properly pronounced neither "ra, ri, ru, re, ro" nor "la, li, lu, le, lo" but rather as beginning with a consonant that is right in between the western "r" and "l". English and other European languages forces the speaker to choose from two options (r and l) that simply don't exist in Japanese. I imagine it might be similar in other Asian languages.

English and other European languages forces the speaker to choose from two options (r and l) that simply don't exist in Japanese. I imagine it might be similar in other Asian languages.
