Like every mayor of New York, he's the absolute worst. A sustained doonward trajectory.

0.) initially dismissing it, as all the athletes and popular kids and assorted bullies who hated anyone who liked learning all enthusiastically smoked it (Nassau County, 1972-1978),
1.) liking it, and finding that low doses helped me gets my maths homework done, but finding that it easily can be bad for me by inducing depressive spirals and generally sapping mine energy, and
2.) seeing a dear relative who loved it getting gastric problems from it, then other problems when he tried to stop.
Beside ending the barbarities of imprisoning people for it, my best wish for legalisation is that we might finally see it for exactly what it actually is, 'with clear eyes' as my karate-dō seniors used to put it. (A week into trying it, I found I couldn't practise martial arts well within about three days' time of using it, it screwed-up my balance badly, but of course your kilometerage may vary.)

People are different, and the drugs are what they are, and taking both punishment and the pleasure of rebellion out of the mix can only help understanding both better.
In an amoral universe that doesn't care about us no plant is all Good, many got better for us because we bred them to be so, but Prohibition encouraged our messing with millenia of breeding marijuana for eating and centuries of breeding it for smoking. I'd happily pick-up samples of some of the old landraces just after I'd killed Baby Hitler, although that latter'd probably make me cease to exist.
