Wow!!! You played john the postman! A dear old friend of mine from Manchester. A highlight in my musical career was that he performed with my old band Dandelion Adventure in Manchester at the Boardwalk….and we did Louie Louie….a track he loved and always sang after bands finished by jumping onstage at any gig (be it Buzzcocks, The Fall, Joy Division, etc) and bumrushing the show. Question: how do you create an audio exchange social construct that has the same lovely feeling as the cassette community?

Because cassettes were tangible, and because they were slower than electrons through a slower network, could not be duplicated in the time it took a Woodstock crowd size of electrons to pass through a computer chip gate, and took up more space than an amoeba (I’m guessing that’s the size of all those stored bits on a RAM chip), they were distinct, and tangible unicorns.

Now, every moment of this moment can be copied, duplicated, and transmitted to somewhere at close to the speed of light.

Cassettes felt like a moment preserved. If everyone can have a copy of it in an instant and save it forever, how does it remain unique?

My friends and I had a band and we wrote a letter to Tesco V requesting Permission to cover the meatmen song come on over to my crib. The response was a sixteen page letter and a video tape. We got our permission. The video was full of naked stuff with live mentors performances. We were teenagers. Rock n roll. We played in my backyard and a friends backyard.

dude, I've was here since 2000. (just got back after a 8 year absence). I had 5 mugging attempts b/c 2001-2003, only 2 were successful. (i was able to talk my way out each time, and once had neighbor intervene.) I kept my wallet each time, and cash, even when i had a gun to my head. (i had to go to popo for that one, as, see above). that guy got 8 years due to my photographic memory and the phone tape played in court.

she was suicidal, so i told her she could stay for 2 days. no relations, whatsoever. gave her my master bedroom, i stayed on the couch. but she made me late for work, and would 'cook' and do other things at 2-4an keeping me from sleeping, I've allowed people down on their luck to stay w/ me for a few days, even one guy for a month, but they all respected my boundaries. i'm so exhausted. i had to do a wellness check and have her taken to hospital.
