(Which is very unusual- I rarely watch films over & over - too many new things to try & discover - before we 🐸). Watching paper moon for the 3rd time or so several years ago, it dawned on me just how influential that film was in style and dialog on the Coen bros. Etc. & a wonderful retro soundtrack ta boot !

The best part of the solo Joel “Macbeth” (2021) was its b&w silvery shimmering Escher visuals. I am also extremely fond of one (many!) of their less celebrated films: “The Man Who Wasn't There” (2001) = check it for more of that darkly fun side! Note: not too many folks seem to skipped the latest solo Ethan “drive away dolls” (2024) - I thought it was a fun ride and throwback/updated spin on the exploitation films of the long ago past. (Cynthia Plaster Caster lives on !). Ps: I applaud that not everything needs to be as stunning as say “No Country for Old Men”.

They dabble, but it would be a fun feature monthly motif. I haven’t seen some of Peter B’s mid-latter films. Nickelodeon is a jaw dropping & fascinating trainwreck. Saint Jack is a worthy slog. Kinda liked Cats Meow (cutie attempt). And vaguely recall being impressed by his Orson Welles flop attempt (mid 70s? w/miscast Ryan O’Neal & Burt Reynolds). Ryan’s best film by far (imo) is Paper Moon.

The best part of the solo Joel “Macbeth” (2021) was its b&w silvery shimmering Escher visuals. I am also extremely fond of one (many!) of their less celebrated films: “The Man Who Wasn't There” (2001) = check it for more of that darkly fun side! Note: not too many folks seem to skipped the latest solo Ethan “drive away dolls” (2024) - I thought it was a fun ride and throwback/updated spin on the exploitation films of the long ago past. (Cynthia Plaster Caster lives on !). Ps: I applaud that not everything needs to be as stunning as say “No Country for Old Men”.

Ryan’s best film by far (imo) is Paper Moon.
