In 1996, I was really into Nine Inch Nails and Neil Gaiman's work and wearing all black to school. The second I heard "Caught A Lite Sneeze" and how dense and dark and oblique it was, I was like "Oh this is for me."

"The Sandman" adaptation? I struggled with the early episodes, really loved the adaptations of "24/7"/"Sound Of Her Wings" and really loved them but then it hit "The Doll's House" and remembered how much I didn't like that arc and gave up. I might start up again on Season 2, just to see a live action Delirium finally.

Yeah. Again, I didn't like those issues of the comic so I wasn't really in the mood for a mostly-faithful adaptation. "Seasons Of Mist," to me, is when the comic hits its peak and its great until the end. ("A Game of You" is one of my favorite arcs of any comic ever.)

had a sole start to separate when I was walking towards my truck and didn't notice. I started backing up with the sole under the gas pedal and the rest above it. Became an adventure when I had to shift my foot to the brake. Fortunately I wasn't going fast and the resulting collision was a low speed bumper to bumper one with my Canyon and my son's Suburban. No damage

"You Want It Darker" was released just before Cohen died, I think a month or two. I know that there was already talk that it was his equivalent to "Blackstar." I remember there was an essay saying "it's not his dying statement." And then he died like a week later. There was a posthumous release that came afterward "Thanks For The Dance" which didn't really feel like a completed statement at all.

I absolutely love Mike Garson's "Bowie Variations" album but it's very much for fans of avant-garde jazz rather than rock/pop fans. The arrangements only have the barest connection to the melodies of the original songs. Emphasis on the Variations.

In my friend Sam's car. With the volume fully up. As someone who listened to a LOT of experimental music I very rarely was left with a moment where I've been "this is like no other music that I've ever heard in my life. I don't understand what I'm hearing." I found it used about a month later and I only "got" the track "When You Sleep" until I decided to listen to it on an LSD trip and, well, I understood it *completely and totally* at that moment.

I was told to just pick a couple vegetables a week to make meals around and pick recipes from there and that makes it easier to save money…. Maybe kind of obvious but I’d never thought of it that way. This month I started paying for NYT Cooking only and I think I found a good amount that I will keep in my rotation and also I love the app…. πŸ€“ I miss New York because so much good food meant I didn’t have to really think about meals that much but the desert is a desert for good restaurants that are also affordable
