Well, as it happens, I gave the parades a miss except for Krewe du Vieux this year. As I told a cousin, I've entered the final stage of my reassimilation since I moved back in 2017: blowing off Mardi Gras. Still, where I live in the Marigny I just have to stand on my balcony to see the St Anne Society march past, which I did. Lovely day.

I think a big part of it is that when I was first back I was like a dog let loose in a butcher's shop, I couldn't get enough parades, I went to as many as my energy would allow, so it was just a matter of time before I burned myself out. I think I'll be back in the spirit next year though, nice long season.
