It follows the life of Penny from a teenager living in Uckfield (UK) to Germany and overland by truck in the 1970’s through Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan, and full circle years later back to her home town. The soundtrack, like the film, is a collage, composed of sounds and events depicting Penny’s journey. While the recently released cassette on woodfordhalse foregrounds Penny’s voice by incorporating generous amounts of dialogue into the music, this LP offers a companion piece that presents Penny from a completely different perspective, focusing entirely on the music, as composed by Maya Hardinge and David Zuckerman. Starting with his Tone. The mere Sound he gets is more Human than others. & - I've alway struggled to be more articulate about that...
Then of course How he plays. His phrasing is stunning. & of course Technically he was an absolute Master.
& the Classic Trane Quartet I reckon is only the Best Band Ever...
Then finally What he plays. He's an Innovator - & a Composer.
'Alabama' for instance, about the 1963 church bombing murdering little girls - what higher thing can Art aspire to ?
When Trane went off into Avant & Free territory - no one could honestly say it was because he hadn't Mastered other stages & Forms...
Whether the Rawkers realize if or not - Trane was the primary model for the BYrdS & others who 'invented' Psychedelia by allowing Rawkers to Improvise beyond two minute Pop boundaries...

That's really astute. Of course - Maria was also the Saviour in that...
& of course Jonathan is 100% correct. EVERYTHING is on this Ballot. & despite all that's said - it's a fact that Elections Have Consequences.
I continuously point to Germany in the 1930s - & how too many other Parties dividing the Vote gave the Nazis enuff of an advantage. & the same in the USA in 1968 @ the DNC Chicago. It's the nature of Fascism - literally to Fasten - that they goose-step together to an Ideology. it's the nature of being Liberal - literally to tolerate more & broader views - to not do that as much. All throughout History.
I see Politics as where our Idealism collides with the Game of Power @ 90°. It is Ugly ! & for those who'd like us to always look elsewhere - that is to their advantage... But what GrownUps do is carry on & do their part...
