Favoriting February 6, 2024: HASHIM KOTARO BHAROOCHA on Meiko Kaji
Music journalist/DJ Hashim Kotaro Bharoocha discusses the career of 70's Japanese exploitation actress/vocalist Meiko Kaji (Stray Cat Rock, Female Prisoner Scorpion), the subject of a Wewantsounds solo album reissue series. The latest release, Kaji's 1972 debut Gincho Wataridori, for which Bharoocha penned the liner notes, features the theme from the Toei gangster film Wandering Ginza Butterfly. Kaji became a cult icon when Quentin Tarantino based Kill Bill on Kaji's 1973 revenge film Lady Snowblood.

Lady Snowblood in japanese is called Shurayuki Hime, and the name of Disney's Snow White and the 7 dwarfs in japanese is Shirayuki Hime only 1 letter difference.
