So watch the movie Drunk Bus last Tuesday, because I hear that it's set in Kent, Ohio, where we lived for many years. It has an impressive cast for a low budget film, including Will Forte. Anyway, were watching and one of the reoccuring charaters, Robert Birch, is a direct homage to a friend of ours, Robert Wood. That weird guy in town that everyone thinks is homeless. And they behave erratically or boldly in public. Robert made a specific name for himself that I won't repeat out of respect for him. But if you see Drunk Bus, Robert Birch was our friend Robert Wood. Very strange to see a parody of a friend in a movie.

A friend of mine from the '80s and on was, like myself, an LA punk scenester of sorts. When Devo came to Southern California, they stayed with her family on Mount Washington.

I recall hearing what I believe was the first radio airplay of "Jocko Homo," at least of more than regional reach. It was Rodney Bingenheimer's show on KROQ, c.'77. The next day, my buddy and I headed to ... I wanna say Zed Records in Long Beach ... and acquired our own copies.
