Maybe their equipment was not always as far along as the best in the USA for a while... (EMI - AbbeyRoad in London where TheBeatles recorded was like the first Recording Studio anywhere - & world class ...& even still...) & in the earlier 1960s - I think the BBC people were not only afraid of the needle going into the red ...but the Beeb had a pretty staid reputation... Then probly the Pirates blew a hole in how the UK listened to the Radio - & when the Pirates were shut down the BBC had to adjust to changing times.

Maybe their equipment was not always as far along as the best in the USA for a while... (EMI - AbbeyRoad in London where TheBeatles recorded was like the first Recording Studio anywhere - & world class ...& even still...) & in the earlier 1960s - I think the BBC people were not only afraid of the needle going into the red ...but the Beeb had a pretty staid reputation... Then probly the Pirates blew a hole in how the UK listened to the Radio - & when the Pirates were shut down the BBC had to adjust to changing times.
