The origins of the pork pie hat in Western fashion lay in the 1860s. Initially an item of women’s wear, this accessory was identifiable through its shape, particularly the narrow brim which distinctively curled round towards the crown of the hat, which was flat, and usually made from straw or velvet in this period.[

But I don’t think Abba is going to bring in the bucks, especially if you play the Stooges in the same hour. Morning drive is not the cash cow everyone thinks it is. Try getting the rest of the daytime shows into shape!

I’m new to streaming radio as of more recent years (2015+?)or so. Of course i was aware of it prior, but never focused-into it. I had no idea WFMU had expanded to 4 diff streams until 2021(?!). Was so incredibly stoked by rediscovering its creative & abundant streaming tech services. (previously being very terrestrially obsessed from 1981-1994).
- so delighted to have found my way back.
Btw/Fyi: the Drummers & Sheena stream can have some very non-Rock music that might appeal.
Just sayin.

Ah the good old bad days of Wnew! I wish I’d known about the non- commercial band from 88-92 back in 1975. I only found fmu in ‘81 and it was Irwin’s Sunday night show… I think our attention spans have shrunk in the interim? Or our standards are inevitably higher as we become jaded by the really good stuff and have no patience for indie/college rock flavors of the week

Re Apple Venus; I have a vague theory - being an avid XTC fan-geek since ‘drums and wires’ arrived (age 14): after band infighting issues & hiatus, the album has a retooled sound (more of a stripped-down acoustic / programmed drums!?) Andy taking more control(?). A shift from their vintage quirky powerhouse days. (I really miss drummer Terry Chambers! -he Left a long time ago!). I actually enjoy listening to ‘Wasp Star’ (Apple Venus vol 2) more that 1.
Yet, I wouldn’t skip over any of their stuff (i find away to appreciate it All)
- loving the new Clubman 3 material.
- huge fan of Andy’s 1st vintage solo album (Mr Partridge take away lure of salvage = stellar!).
Always wondered why Colin Moulding doesn’t make solo project albums ?!

Besides all the fabu vintage XTC greats - (a pet fave that gets much maligned is their ‘The Big Express’). I believe it’s the first without their fabu drummer Terry Chambers. They had a talented studio drummer fill-in. (Though imo, just not the same ever since he split).
