Chrestis experience at Esalen was a little different than mine. I only did this once, but I suppose once was enough. We got there at one in the morning - they were open to the public until 7AM. It was a free for all with the tubs filled to brimming with naked humanity.

I went to Wheeler hot springs, near Ojai.
A friend and I would meet there and rent a tub (bonus cold tub next to it)
like everywhere else, (except the inaccessible by car places), was renovated into a luxury spa

Highly recommend everyone watch “orangutan jungle school”. First episode is free on YouTube. TV docuseries about orangutan rescue in Borneo. One of the best things I watched all year.
